LLM Educational Program with the University of Richmond

The LL.M. Program with the University of Richmond School of Law is a challenging opportunity for LUISS students currently enrolled in the 4th year of the LUISS Single-Cycle Master’s Degree program in Law - specific majors.

After its completion, LUISS students will obtain the single-cycle Master’s degree in Law issued by LUISS University and the LL.M. Degree issued by the University of Richmond School of Law.

The program offers its students a great opportunity to gain a valid grounding in U.S. law, common law, along with legal English and communication skills, in an academic environment enriched by an outstanding faculty and detailed attention to students. 

The program is a tuition-paying program.

The University of Richmond offers partial tuition scholarship to LUISS applicants. Students will pay a one-semester tuition fee of approximately $22,400 for 2018-2019 and will receive a full scholarship for the second semester’s tuition. Fees at Richmond are to be considered in addition to the LUISS tuition fees.

Admission

Who can apply

Students enrolled in the fourth year of the single-cycle Master's degree program in Law can apply to this program. According to their major, students can apply for:

  • an LL.M. in International Business: open to students majoring in Diritto Civile, Diritto ed Economia delle Imprese, Diritto Internazionale, Diritto Societario e Tributario;
  • an LL.M. in Intellectual Property: open to students majoring in Diritto ed Economia delle Imprese.

Every year 3 students can take part in the program. 

Interested students may send their documentation by the deadline of February 1, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. to the email address international@luiss.it. Candidates are required to submit the following:

  • English Language Certificate
  • ID Card
  • Motivation letter
  • Photo in JPG Format
  • Curriculum vitae/résumé
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Most recent transcript of records

Pre-Requirements

Eligible students can apply if they comply with the following requirements:

  • have passed and registered at least a total of 180 credits;
  • hold a weighted average grade equal to or above 27/30;
  • hold an international English language certificate accepted by Richmond: TOEFL 100 (internet-based) or above, IELTS score of 7 or above.

Students who have been already selected for another LL.M. program or for the International Student Exchange program for the mobility 2018-2019 are not allowed to apply to this call for applications.

Selection Procedure

LUISS will select a short list of candidates based on a non-disputable evaluation of the academic profile and the motivation of the student. An Academic Commission nominated by the Dean of the Department of Law will select students on the basis of a non-disputable evaluation. An interview will be carried out by a member/members of the Academic Commission and by the International Development Office. The selection results will be communicated by e-mail to the applicants by June 14, 2018.
