Applications to MOSEC 2010/2011 are still open. Admission letters to early applicants  have been e-mailed in early June. A rolling admission is still offered to late applicants: candidates are invited to submit their applications by the end of August 2010.

Students in the current class, 2009-2010, have so far gained admissions to the following programs: Ph.D in Economics at London Business School, Northwestern University, Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (IDEA),
Universite’ Libre de Bruxelles (ECARES), University of Virginia.

Students in the class 2008-2009 were admitted to the following programs: Ph.D in Economics at Columbia, European University Institute, London School of Economics, Luiss, Northwestern, Princeton. Ph.D. in Statistics and Applied Mathematics at the Collegio Carlo Alberto, Msc in Economics at Warwick.

The Master of Science in Economics provides rigorous training in economics with particular focus on financial economics and finance. Students will acquire a deep understanding of the field and be prepared for successful professional or academic careers. The faculty teaching the courses are all active researchers at the frontier of their area of expertise. About 25 students are enrolled each year, which allows for close interaction with LUISS faculty. The Master of Science in Economics aims at competing with the leading programmes in Europe in the fields of economics and financial economics.

Target students

Successful applicants will hold an undergraduate/bachelor’s degree with an excellent academic record. Applicants will have a strong quantitative and economics background and hold a degree in Economics or related disciplines like Business, Engineering, Law, Mathematics, Physics, Politics or Statistics. Applicants should either have finished or be about to finish their undergraduate degrees.

Career Opportunities

Successful graduates of the program will be both competitive for professional or academic careers. Students interested in research and academic careers will have acquired an excellent preparation in the fields of economics and financial economics and the analytical skills required for admission to the most prestigious doctoral programs. Students interested in professional careers will be prepared for high-skilled jobs in consulting firms, investment banks, central banks, government agencies, multinational companies and international organizations.

Structure

The Master program is a full-time nine-month program structured in four quarters, each 6 weeks long, running from October through May. In September students will take introductory courses in Mathematics and Statistics. Each quarter will offer advanced courses in the fields of Macroeconomics, Microeconomics and Quantitative Methods, with an increasing focus on applications to finance.
