LLM Educational Program with Durham University
Highlights
The program provides a solid and international preparation in the field of International Law, offering to students the chance to choose one of the following specializations:
- International Trade and Commercial Law
- Corporate Law
- International Law and Governance
- European Trade and Commercial Law
The program is designed for ambitious and motivated students who want to learn in an exciting environment with world-class professors.
The program is a tuition-paying program. In addition to tuition fees at Luiss, selected students will pay tuition to Durham University. Luiss students will benefit from a 20% discount, therefore, for the 2026-27 academic they will be required to pay a fee of around £25,000.
Please note that tuition does not include living expenses. Students must also cover the cost of housing and meals. Interested students can apply for a college accommodation.

Application Process
The Call for Application is published on Early December 2025 and students will be able to apply starting from 8 January 2026. Further information on the deadlines are reported in the table below. Details regarding the application process that are not available in this web page, will be available in the Call for Applications 2026/27, uploaded in the 'Useful documents' section at the bottom of this page.
Who can apply
Students enrolled in the fourth year of the single-cycle Master's degree program can apply for this program. According to their major, students can apply for:
• LL.M. in International Trade and Commercial Law open to students majoring in Diritto Internazionale, European Law, Law and Innovation, Diritto Societario e Tributario, Diritto ed Economia delle Imprese
• LL.M. in International Law and Governance open to students majoring in Diritto Internazionale
• LL.M. in European Trade and Commercial Law open to students majoring in Diritto Internazionale, European Law, Diritto Societario e Tributario, Diritto ed Economia delle Imprese, Diritto Amministrativo
• LL.M. in Corporate Law open to students majoring in European Law, Diritto Societario e Tributario, Diritto ed Economia delle Imprese, Diritto Civile
Application Process

Every year a total of 10 students can take part in the program.
Requirements
Candidates for this program must meet the following requirements:
- ELTS: min. 7.0 overall with no component under 6.5 and with writing min. 7.0
- TOEFL iBT and TOEFL iBT Home edition: 90 with no component under 20
- Cambridge CPE: min. 185 overall with minimum of 176 per component and with writing min. 185
- Cambridge CAE: min. 185 overall with minimum of 176 per component and with writing min. 185
- Pearson Academic PTE: min. 68 with no less than 62 in each Communicative Skill and with writing min. 68
- Duolingo English Language Test (DET): 130 overall with 130 in writing and no less than 120 in any other individual subscore
The language certificates must not be older than two years from the start of the mobility (August/September 2026). Applicants must meet the requirements using a single test.
Selection Procedure
Luiss University will select a shortlist of candidates based on a non-disputable evaluation of the academic profile and the motivation of the student. Further details about the selection process would be published along with the call publication.
Results will be communicated to Durham University which reserves the right to make the final choice.
Selection Criteria
The selection follows a 3-step process:
| Step 1 | The eligible candidates will be ranked after the analysis of their academic performance (credits 53%, credits for internship 2%, weighted average grade 45%). |
| Step 2 | An interview will focus on the motivation, the academic background and the previous international or professional experiences |
| Step 3 | The partner Universities, analyzing the Luiss Commission ranking and the candidates’ dossiers, has the right to confirm the final ranking. |
