Admission requirements for students with international qualifications
Your high school diploma must comply with current regulations regarding admission qualifications (for more information, please see the following page).
In addition to these requirements, some diplomas may necessitate additional criteria, as summarized below.
Please note that candidates are responsible for verifying in advance that their prior educational credentials are valid for admission to Bachelor's and Single-Cycle Master's degree programs. Admission is conditional on the eligibility of the credentials based on ministerial guidelines and does not entail an assessment of the validity of the admission credentials, which will only be carried out during the enrollment phase.
Criteria and rules
It is the student's responsibility to ensure their qualification meets ministerial regulations. The Admissions Office will only verify qualifications during the enrollment stage, once all required documentation for enrollment has been submitted. It should be noted that, if the qualification does not meet the prescribed requirements at the enrollment stage, students will not be allowed to complete enrollment, even if they have been admitted. In fact, admission through any of Luiss's selection procedures does not imply an evaluation of the access qualification, which will only be verified upon enrollment and through official documentation.
International student mobility - Minimum duration
Qualifications are only accepted for enrollment if obtained after at least two years of attendance in the same school system. Qualifications awarded as part of a mobility program will not be considered eligible for enrollment.
Educational Institutions and Awarding Institutions
Institutions issuing the qualification must be accredited and recognized by the relevant ministry of education. If the awarding institution is different from the teaching institution, both institutions must be accredited and recognized in the country where they are based and in the country whose education system they follow.
Professional/vocational credentials
To be eligible for enrollment in Italian Bachelor's Degrees, qualifications must be comparable to the corresponding Italian qualification not only in duration, but also in the content of the academic program. Since professional and vocational qualifications do not have the same content and scope as the corresponding Italian qualification (Diploma di Maturità), they are not considered eligible for enrollment in Italian Bachelor's Degrees.
National university entrance exam
In school systems that require a national admission exam for university access, the diploma will only be considered eligible for enrollment if accompanied by the certificate showing successful completion of the aforementioned exam.
If the student's qualification doesn't meet the prescribed guidelines, they can make up for the missing requirements by submitting one of the following documents:
- completion of a Foundation Program whose content is consistent with the student's desired field of study, with a duration of at least one academic year and issued by accredited and recognized universities
- one full year of university/college studies at an accredited and recognized institution, with successful completion of all exams required for the first year
If one of the two qualifications mentioned above is obtained, it should be legalized and apostilled, or accompanied by a CIMEA Statement of Comparability.
