Luiss Guido Carli is an Italian private university based in Rome, specialising in the social sciences: economics, management, law, finance, and political science. Luiss was founded in 1977 on the initiative of a group of entrepreneurs led by Umberto Agnelli. The University's establishment unfolded through a series of key milestones:
- The origins (1966): Pro Deo University was founded, and it was from this institution that Luiss's educational project would take shape in 1974.
- Foundation of Luiss (1977): In 1977, the institution officially adopted the name Luiss — Libera Università Internazionale degli Studi Sociali (Free International University of Social Studies).
- Naming in honour of Guido Carli (1994): In 1994, the university adopted its current name, Luiss Guido Carli, in honour of Guido Carli — former Governor of the Bank of Italy and Minister of the Treasury — who served as its President from 1978 until his death in 1993.

Luiss Guido Carli's main campus is located in Rome, in the Parioli-Trieste district, one of the capital's most vibrant and institutionally significant urban areas. The campus is spread across several buildings in the same area, which are connected by a dedicated shuttle service.
The University's main addresses are:
- Viale Pola 12 – the University’s registered office, which houses the offices of the President, the Rector, and the Director General, as well as some of the teaching activities for Law, Global Law, and Political Science, along with the School of Journalism and the Postgraduate School.
- Via Parenzo, 11 – the main location for the Law and Global Law degree programmes, it also hosts some teaching activities for the Political Science and PPE courses.
- Viale Romania 32 – The largest teaching site, this building houses the Departments of AI, Data and Decision Sciences, Business and Management, Economics and Financial Markets, and Political Science, as well as the Undergraduate and Graduate School.
- Via Nomentana 216 – home to Luiss Business School (Villa Blanc)
