The GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) and the GRE (Graduate Record Examinations) are international tests conducted in English that are used in the admissions processes for Master's degree programmes, Master's courses, MBAs, and doctoral programmes at Italian and international universities. The two certifications assess quantitative and verbal reasoning skills, as well as analytical and writing abilities, using different structures and assessment methods.

In addition to being an important entry requirement for numerous academic programmes, GMAT and GRE certifications can also enhance candidates' profiles in the professional sphere, broadening their opportunities for selection by international companies and organisations.

Luiss promotes guidance initiatives and preparation courses to raise awareness of the two certifications and to support students in choosing the test best suited to their chosen path.

Luiss preparation course for the GMAT and GRE tests

Luiss offers students in their second and third years of a Bachelor's degree programme a preparation course for the GMAT and GRE tests, delivered by a partner school selected by the University. The course offers useful methods, strategies, and tools for tackling the various sections of the test, improving your skills, and maximising your score in preparation for the admissions processes for Master's degree programmes.

Course for enrolled students

Information sessions are planned for Luiss students in their second and third years of a Bachelor's degree programme. These sessions will introduce the certifications and explain the features of the preparation course.

The following topics will be explored in depth during the sessions:

  • GMAT and GRE compared: the purposes, features, and key differences between the two qualifications.
  • Test structure: sections, question types, and how the tests are conducted.
  • The preparation course: its organisation, content, teaching methodology, and how to take part.
  • Guidance on choosing: useful information to help you identify the certification that best aligns with your academic path and the programmes you are interested in.

Course for external students

In collaboration with its partner school and with lecturers who are experts in preparing students for the GMAT and GRE certifications, Luiss is organising information sessions specifically for external students interested in continuing their academic studies at Luiss.

The sessions will provide an in-depth look at the two certifications and how they are used in admissions processes, with a particular focus on:

  • Purposes and contexts of use: when and why to choose the GMAT or the GRE when applying to national and international academic programmes.
  • Structure and content: test sections, types of exercises, and the skills assessed.
  • Format and assessment: the features of the exam, how scores are calculated, and the criteria used to interpret the results.
  • Preparation strategies: study approaches, materials, and practice exercises to help you tackle the test.
  • Questions and discussion with the tutors: an in-depth look at the practical aspects and guidance on how to plan your preparation.
