The Observatory conducts research, provides consulting, and offers training across various areas of public ethics. Ethos addresses the ethical and political implications of business, medicine, sustainability, and artificial intelligence, engaging some of the most influential figures in national and international academia. Ethos includes prominent figures from Italian culture, scholars and professionals across various research fields, as well as students. Its main purpose is to examine major issues in contemporary society from an ethical perspective. Ethos was founded in Rome, Italy, but it already has branches in various Italian cities and has initiated contacts for several memorandums of understanding with groups operating in other countries.

The chosen ethical perspective entails an external, evaluative view of various activities. It is typically conducted alongside those involved in the relevant fields who feel an urgent need to examine the relationship between their professional commitment and broader social and moral goals. The reasons behind the creation of Ethos are varied, ranging from the need to address similar issues and problems in a time like ours, to the requirement for professionalism that demands a conscious approach based on a solid understanding of ethical reflection.
