The LLEE, the Luiss Lab of Economics and Energy Transition, develops and promotes research and training activities on European and international economic issues. The lab primarily focuses on European economic structures and dynamics, analyzing them through both theoretical and econometric tools, as well as comparative description and applied economics.

The LLEE’s main research areas are: the knowledge economy, intangible capital, and economic growth; the quality of institutions, economic behavior, the labor market, and growth (with a particular focus on Europe in light of economic, demographic, and technological transformations); and international economics and trade. In recent years, the energy transition at both the national and international levels has also become one of its areas of interest.

The LLEE conducts research in collaboration with European and Italian institutions, research and educational institutes across Europe, and private partners from the manufacturing, finance, and trade sectors. The network of internationally renowned institutions, universities, and research centers that LLEE collaborates with are leaders in the research areas of interest to LLEE and exhibit significant geographic, cross-sectoral, and interdisciplinary diversity. Over the years, LLEE has collaborated on prestigious projects funded by both the European Commission and Italian institutions. In the field of training, the Center also leverages cooperation with Italian and European institutions, as well as partnerships with companies and financial institutions. In this regard, LLEE is engaged in activities primarily focused on training young recent graduates or those already in the workforce, with the aim of providing them with the skills, tools, and methodologies needed to access key positions in the national and international job market.
