Luiss Diplomatic and Security Forum - The Strategic Mediterranean
The 4th Conference on National Strategic Choices, organized by the Center for International and Strategic Studies (CISS) at Luiss. Designed as a premier meeting place for the diplomatic, political, economic, and analytical worlds, the Forum annually provides a unique opportunity to bring together the international and Italian diplomatic community, fostering strategic dialogue among academia, institutions, and diplomacy.
The 2026 edition focuses on the Mediterranean: a geopolitical area of growing strategic importance, a crossroads of global interests, security challenges, economic opportunities, and unresolved tensions. At a time when the Mediterranean basin is once again the stage for competitive dynamics between major and medium-sized powers, the Forum provides a prime platform for analyzing, discussing, and guiding the strategic choices of Italy and its partners.
The program features keynote sessions with high-profile speakers, complemented by numerous thematic panels focusing on diplomacy, security, the economy, and development. High-level institutional representatives from key government bodies and leaders of leading strategic companies will take turns at the table, in a format that encourages direct dialogue between political vision and the industrial perspective.
Topics on the agenda include regional security and defense, underwater infrastructure, major connectivity projects, and the blue economy, reflecting an integrated approach to security that encompasses environmental, technological, and economic dimensions.
