“10 Theses for Sustainability”: the awards ceremony for the second edition took place at Luiss
Luiss is renewing its commitment to sustainability and to nurturing young talent with the second edition of “10 Theses for Sustainability”, the Graduation Award it promotes in partnership with the Symbola Foundation and Unioncamere, with the support of Deloitte Climate & Sustainability.
The initiative brought together 1,699 participants from 81 Italian universities, including graduates from both scientific and humanities disciplines, and underscored the increasingly cross-disciplinary nature of sustainability in university research.
The project was conceived with the aim of promoting studies and research that can offer new perspectives on issues of sustainable development, while also fostering dialogue between universities, younger generations, and the business world.
Luiss's contribution to scientific peer review
The Scientific Committee that selected the winners is chaired by Emiliana De Blasio, Luiss Advisor for Diversity, Inclusion and Sustainability, alongside Stefano Zamagni, Professor Emeritus at the University of Bologna, and Marco Frey, Professor at the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa and Chair of the Scientific Committee of the Symbola Foundation.

An initiative involving the national university system
The applications received came from all over the country: 61% were submitted by women and 39% by men. The universities with the highest number of applications include the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, the University of Bologna, and Sapienza University of Rome.
The initiative is sponsored by the Ministry of University and Research and the Conference of Rectors of Italian Universities (CRUI), and is carried out in collaboration with AlmaLaurea, the Network of Universities for Sustainable Development (RUS), the National Inter-University Consortium for the Science and Technology of Materials (INSTM), and 26 partner universities.
The ten winners will each receive a prize of €2,000. Honourable mentions will also be awarded to the most outstanding theses, and there will be opportunities to meet with the business community, with the aim of helping recent graduates make the transition into the world of work.
The dissertations can be viewed on the Fondazione Symbola website, also with the aim of fostering networking opportunities with the business community.
