On Orientation Day, January 18, 2025, high school students and their families had the chance to interact with innovative virtual assistants powered by Generative Artificial Intelligence. This project marks the debut of AI technology in university guidance services.

AI Virtual Assistants for Personalized University Guidance

During the event, Luiss launched an experimental project that uses AI to enhance the orientation experience. Two digital avatars, created using Generative Artificial Intelligence technology, supported faculty and staff, providing personalized information about the university's educational offerings, admission procedures, scholarships, and services.

These virtual assistants engaged with participants via interactive kiosks located on the Viale Romania campus. Thanks to advanced technology, the avatars facilitated one-on-one voice and visual conversations, delivering an immersive and highly personalized experience.

A leap forward in digital innovation

This initiative, a collaboration between Luiss and linfa, a leading company at the forefront of Generative AI, is an integral part of the University’s digital transformation program. It also fits within the broader context of academic innovation, which includes initiatives like the AI Literacy badge for developing advanced digital skills and the AI4Society Research Center, dedicated to studying the impact of Artificial Intelligence on society.

The future of AI serving students

Luiss will continue to experiment with and integrate new technologies to make university orientation more efficient and improve the student experience, while maintaining a focus on innovation and digital progress.
