The Department of AI Data and Decision Sciences has been established at Luiss
Luiss is bolstering its commitment to innovation in research and teaching with the creation of the Department of AI, Data, and Decision Sciences, approved by the Board of Directors following a proposal from Rector Paolo Boccardelli. This new academic hub combines STEM disciplines with Luiss’s established background in the social sciences, serving as a focal point for developing key skills in artificial intelligence, data science, and decision making.
“We had already started the artificial intelligence engine; now we’ve hit the turbo,” said Rector Boccardelli in an interview with Il Sole 24 Ore, emphasizing the importance of a conscious and interdisciplinary approach to AI.
The new Department, headed by Professor Irene Finocchi, will collaborate with the AI4Society research center and with businesses to train a new generation of professionals capable of leading the digital transformation.
Among the initiatives already launched by the University, the appointment of the Vice Rector for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Skills, the introduction of the AI Literacy badge, the Teaching and Innovation Hub unit, and the Graduate Summer School in Data Science and Management stand out.
Luiss remains a leading university in AI and digital skills, poised to spearhead academic innovation and support companies in their digitalization journey.
