First certification for a non-state university

Luiss Guido Carli, along with Luiss Business School and Luiss Executive Management Education, has been awarded Corporate certification for gender equality by the global body Det Norske Veritas (DNV), in accordance with the PdR 125:2022 standard.

International recognition

Luiss is the first non-state university to receive this recognition from an international, external, and independent certification body, attesting to its commitment to promoting the values of diversity and inclusion.

How we achieved this milestone

This achievement stems from a journey that began in 2022 with the approval of the first Gender Equality Plan and the first Gender Report. Over the years, Luiss has launched various initiatives to support gender equality. These range from supporting parenthood to offering flexible working arrangements for faculty and staff, from recruiting and advancing the academic careers of female professors and researchers to organizing awareness-raising activities and events, and from expanding the educational offering to include courses focused on diversity and inclusion.

Tangible results

Thanks in part to these initiatives, the University underwent a significant transformation in 2023: female associate professors now make up about 42% of the total, while female researchers represent 64%. Among the staff, women also make up about 70%. Female students make up 48.5% of the student body, and there are more international female students (57.6%) than their male counterparts.
