Luiss leads national research in economics and business studies
Luiss Guido Carli confirms its status as a leader in Italian scientific research. This is evident from the results of the periodic ANVUR assessment, which examined the scientific output of professors and researchers from 100 Italian universities (62 state universities, 20 non-state universities, 7 institutions with special regulations, and 11 online universities) and 13 research organisations supervised by the Ministry of University and Research, categorised into their respective disciplinary areas.
The new data shows a clear growth and significant consolidation for Luiss compared to the last national assessment cycle, placing the university at the top in the fields of economics, management, and social impact.
In the fields of Economics and Business, and Statistics, Luiss achieved top-tier results in the overall rankings, which encompass both state and non-state universities.
- Economics and Business Studies: top spot overall in Italy, consolidating its national leadership in education and research related to management and business administration.
- Economics and Statistics: second place nationally and first overall among medium- to large-sized universities.
There has also been a significant leap forward in social impact, known as the Third Mission. The most significant and evident progress compared to the previous national assessment round is seen in the enhancement of knowledge and the social impact of research on the community. While in the previous assessment, the University named after Guido Carli ranked 15th in Italy, in the new ranking, Luiss has made a real leap forward, securing second place overall nationally – and first place among medium-sized and small universities.
This significant result was driven by the case study: “Rebuilding trust by improving the quality of information and combating disinformation through research, communication, and digital literacy”. The project, which received the highest rating of “Exceptional”, demonstrates the University's tangible commitment to transforming scientific research into real solutions to combat fake news and foster a digitally literate culture.
As the Vice-Rector for Research and the Third Mission, Stefano Manzocchi, stated: “The ANVUR data confirm Luiss's significant growth, combining academic rigour and practical experience with strong appeal and a marked international vocation, which generate tangible impacts on the great challenges of our time.”
