A Luiss project for better waste management on campuses
Luiss is launching a new project focused on improving waste management across its campuses, with the goal of reducing the university’s environmental impact and promoting more sustainable lifestyles within the university community.
The initiative combines structural measures with student engagement, designed to make proper recycling easier and reduce the amount of waste not sent for recycling. Key changes include streamlining outdoor collection points, adding organic waste bins near some outdoor dining areas, introducing new smoking points for recycling cigarette butts, and selling water in recycled and recyclable plastic bottles with dedicated compactors installed.
Alongside these initiatives, interactive panels are located on campus. These panels help users choose the correct way to sort waste by scanning it and offer short quizzes to promote proper recycling education. By participating in games and quizzes, you can earn points that integrate with the Lockbox system, encouraging sustainable behavior.
