Luiss has launched a new series of online lectures where internationally renowned experts address topics within their research fields that are closely tied to key issues related to the health emergency and the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

They will then also try to answer today’s most frequently asked questions: What does data science tell us about the evolution and control of a pandemic? What are the benefits of using Open Innovation processes to respond to the spread of the virus? What are the best models for establishing restrictive measures to contain the spread of infections?

These #Luiss.MasterClasses aim to outline a range of possible options through lectures by an academic, who will be joined by a professional manager. This will spark a unique debate, moderated by journalist Barbara Millucci, which will also include a Q&A session with Luiss students.

The extraordinary situation we are facing presents us with new and unforeseen challenges, testing not only our societies but also our universities. “It's unlikely,” said Luiss Rector Andrea Prencipe, “that once the crisis is over, we'll return to our old habits. Instead, we'll have to learn to navigate a 'new normal.'” But this future won't just happen on its own. We will be the ones to build it, using the cultural and scientific tools of academic knowledge.”

With this initiative, Luiss aims to make a significant contribution to better understanding today's major issues, offering in-depth perspectives and concrete, actionable ideas.

The #Luiss.MasterClasses project features, among others, Cristina Alaimo (Professor of Digital Economy) with Agostino Santoni (CEO of CISCO Italy), Henry Chesbrough (Maire Tecnimont Chair in Open Innovation) with Fabrizio Di Amato (President of Maire Tecnimont), Michele Costabile (Professor of Marketing) with Paolo Legrenzi (Professor Emeritus of Cognitive Psychology at Ca' Foscari University), Francesco Lippi (Professor of Monetary Economics) with Alessio Miranda (CEO of ING Italy), Jeffrey Schnapp (Harvard) with Giovanni Lo Storto (DG of Luiss), and Paola Severino (Vice President of Luiss and Professor of Criminal Law) with Aldo Bisio (CEO of Vodafone Italy).
