New Chair in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence

The course is sponsored by Vetrya, a recognized leader in the development of digital services, applications, and broadband solutions.

On Friday, February 14, Luiss unveiled the Chair in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, sponsored by Vetrya and integrated into the Bachelor's Degree Program in Management & Computer Science.

In attendance were Luiss Rector Andrea Prencipe, the Director of the Department of Business and Management, Alessandro Zattoni, Professor of Computer Science, Giuseppe Italiano, and the President and CEO of Vetrya, Luca Tomassini

“Digitalization and the development of artificial intelligence, robotics, and information technology infrastructure represent a sea change. We don't know what jobs will emerge, but we must plan for the future of people and companies by blending knowledge, with social sciences and human skills playing a key role. After all, data is meaningless without a domain of application,” said Rector Andrea Prencipe.

For the occasion, Vetrya's President and CEO, Luca Tomassini, delivered the course's first lecture: “Artificial intelligence is poised to revolutionize nearly every production sector known to humankind. It's a significant new challenge that will shape the market economy in the coming years. We are proud to contribute with this chair to educating young people in this field, so that in the future they can drive the great digital revolution that lies ahead. We're just getting started.”

“To meet the growing demands of employers, the Department of Business and Management has been recruiting professors in Computer Science, Machine Learning, and Data Science for several years now,” said Alessandro Zattoni, Director of the Luiss Department of Business and Management. “This has allowed the University to both enhance the skills of students enrolled in degree programs focusing on managerial topics and develop new educational projects in the fields of Management and Data Science.”
