Pier Vincenzo Cucinella: QTEM's international experience

The student shares his story of winning the Investment Challenge at Warwick and reaching the soccer semifinals against Foro Italico.

Student Pier Vincenzo Cucinella began his journey at Luiss by enrolling in the Bachelor's Degree Program in Economics and Management. He then participated in a bilateral exchange program in Canada before pursuing the Master's Degree Program in Economics and Finance. Selected for the QTEM Masters Network program, he had the opportunity to study at BI Norwegian Business School and is currently spending a semester at Warwick Business School.

Pier Vincenzo, along with another Luiss student, Stefano Ciccarelli, won the Warwick Investment Challenge, a prestigious competition hosted by the university and focused on financial markets. It's a demanding test, especially during the preparation phase, when you're gathering data and creating a detailed report. “My advice to anyone is to jump in and do both the challenge and the business case, because they help you figure out if you really like what you're doing.”

The student finds his QTEM experience satisfying, both academically and socially, because “building a network with people from vastly different backgrounds is stimulating and exciting.”

In addition to the services and numerous opportunities offered, one of Luiss's strengths, according to Pier Vincenzo, is “the care it provides to students. I played soccer with AS Luiss, was part of associations, and organized events. It’s the most comprehensive university in Italy in this regard.”

The student has many fond memories, but the most exciting one is “scoring the goal and winning the semifinal in the soccer championship against Foro Italico. There were tons of fans, people, cheering, and a great atmosphere.”

By taking part in the Investment Challenge, Pier Vincenzo realized that he would like to pursue a career in the financial markets in the future. “Working in this field isn't a burden for me; in fact, it motivates me.”
