Internship Regulations

A curricular internship is any internship undertaken as a student, whether it's required by the curriculum, intended for thesis preparation, or unrelated to the degree program.
It is intended for all students who are formally enrolled in bachelor's, master's, and single-cycle degree programs, as well as in master's and doctoral programs, and must be completed before the degree is awarded.
An extracurricular internship is one completed by a graduate who is not enrolled in another ministerial program of study. It is intended for all graduates, master's degree holders, and PhD holders.

Generally, a student can complete up to 6 months of a “mandatory” internship (with credits) and/or an “optional” internship (without credits) at one or more organizations/employers before their graduation date.
To earn credit, students must complete a minimum number of hours, which varies based on the number of credits specified in their curriculum (1 credit = 25 hours of internship).
To find out the minimum duration of the mandatory internship, students should consult their study plan via Web Self-Service.
Therefore, after completing the required curricular internship, students can undertake a curricular internship without earning credit at any other institution or with any other employer.

Posting an ad in the Career Center is the fastest and most effective way to reach students and graduates and receive motivated applications. Once validated by the Career Service office, the posting will be visible for 30 days, unless otherwise requested. Candidate resumes will be sent directly via email or via a link to the dedicated section on the institution/employer’s website.
The posting service is free.
For more information on recruitment services or to receive support, please contact the Career Service office (careerservice@luiss.it).

There is no requirement to reimburse expenses for curricular internships, but the institution/employer may still choose to reimburse the intern by including the amount in the designated space within the Training Project.

Once you have identified the trainee or intern, you must complete the request to start the curricular internship at least 5 working days before the start date via the Luiss Digital Internship Platform (an online service).
To activate a curricular internship, click on the following link.
If you encounter any issues creating your account, please email tirocinicurriculari@luiss.it.

To recover and reset your password, please email supportoit@luiss.it, providing your first and last name and the Luiss username you received when you registered.

No, the account for accessing the Luiss Digital Internship Platform is personal. Therefore, you will need to register again.

To activate a curricular internship, you’ll need the following information:
•    the student's tax code (to be verified with the student)
•    number of university credits - CFU (to be verified with the student)
•    contact details for the company tutor
•    activities, learning objectives, and skills to be acquired
•    dates, times, and location of the internship
•    any benefits (reimbursement, company meal vouchers/cafeteria, option for remote work)
•    any periods of suspension.

Indicate the type of professional role that will be developed through the internship (e.g., for legal practice, specify the professional role as “Attorney”).
Once selected, you can specify the various activities in the section “Indicate the activities the intern will perform.”

Each request generates an SR identification code that is immediately sent to the contact person's email, along with a summary of the data entered.
The host institution/employer, and subsequently the student/intern, are responsible for carefully reviewing all data entered. After this review, no further changes can be made. If changes are needed, please email tirocinicurriculari@luiss.it and include the student in the CC.

You’ll need to open the email you received and click on “Confirm.” This will open a blank email, which you should send without any text, making sure the sender address is the same one you used during registration.

Once you confirm the data you've entered, any requested changes will appear directly in the documents you'll receive for signing.
Before signing, it's important to make sure all the information is correct.

The documents – the Training Project and the Agreement – must be digitally signed before the start of the internship by the legal representative of the employer/host organization (or a delegate with signatory authority), by the intern, and by the Luiss Director General.
The system automatically forwards the documents to be digitally signed via DocuSign to the email address of the contact person who activated the internship. Therefore, you don't need to have your own digital signature account.
To forward the documents for signature to the legal representative (or their delegate), you will need to:
-    open the email sent by DocuSign
-    click on “Review documents”
-    select the “Other actions” option in the top right corner
-    finally, click on “Assign to someone else” and enter the signer's name and email address.

Once the signature process is complete, the system automatically sends the documents with all required signatures.
All parties involved – the host organization/employer, the student/trainee, and the sponsor/university – receive the signed documents via email.

To request an extension for an ongoing internship (before the date you graduate), click on Request internship extension and log in with your credentials.
If the internship has already ended, you will need to upload a request for reactivation.

An internship can be terminated early at the request of either the employer or host organization, or the student or intern, provided there is prior communication and agreement between the parties.
To do so, simply send an email to the Career Service office (tirocinicurriculari@luiss.it) with the following requirements:
-    send the request on the same day as the interruption
-    CC the student/employer (whichever party is sending the communication)
-    Include in the subject line “Interruption + Student's Last Name, First Name + Host Organization + SR Code” (e.g., Interruption Rossi Mario Holdings spa SR0000).

At the end of the internship, the student and the host organization’s tutor will need to complete an online questionnaire evaluating the experience. They will receive a link and instructions via email on the last day of the internship.
Only after both questionnaires have been completed will the internship be considered complete, and the Career Service office will be able to submit a request for validation of the credits to the Student Affairs Office.
