Special Rules for 2nd-Year Graduate Courses:
(excluding Law courses, which follow the undergraduate policy)
  • Students may take advantage of only ONE exam session per course each semester.

  • If the exam is failed on the first attempt, a retake is only allowed during:

    • Spring session → for fall semester courses.

    • Late August/September session → for Spring semester courses.

First and Second Examination Periods: Guidelines and Student Practices

The Second Examination Period officially marks the end of the academic semester. However, many exchange students choose to complete their exams earlier, typically during the First Examination Period. Students can take all their exams in the First Period, all in the Second, or split them between the two — this is the most common approach among Luiss students.

Please note that during the First Examination Period, there is only one exam opportunity per course. Given that exam dates and times may overlap—especially across different years, programs, or levels—students might not be able to take all required exams during the First Examination Period and may need to take the remaining exams during the Second Examination Period.

The date of the final exam taken will be recorded to verify attendance for certification purposes.
