An initiative funded by the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Networks Programme, which promotes research, debate, and training on the topic of European Union enlargement.

The project, coordinated by the University of Bologna, will run from 1 October 2025 to 30 September 2028.

The objectives of the ENLARGE project

The ENLARGE project examines the historical evolution of the European Union's enlargement policy in order to assess its effects, challenges, and future prospects.

Taking an interdisciplinary approach, the programme aims to generate new scientific knowledge about the role of enlargement as a driver of European integration, stability, and progress.
Universities, researchers, students, lecturers, and representatives of civil society are involved in research, training, and outreach activities aimed at strengthening dialogue about the future of Europe and the candidate countries for accession.
