Neurodiversity and inclusion

Luiss fosters an inclusive culture that recognises and values neurodiversity through initiatives carried out with associations, local bodies, and specialised organisations. The aim is to encourage participation, autonomy, and the development of individual abilities.

Among these, the collaboration with GetAut! engages girls and boys with autism in horticultural activities aimed at developing personal, social, and relational skills. The project also involves the active participation of Luiss students, helping people with autism become more familiar with the university environment and fostering greater awareness and a culture of inclusion within the community.

Luiss’s commitment also extends to Ability Garden, a social innovation initiative dedicated to promoting the employment inclusion of young people with neurodiversity. Through guidance and skills development programmes, the project helps participants identify their strengths and abilities, aligning their potential with the needs of partner companies to create opportunities for professional integration.

In 2025, Luiss also launched the OVIS project, supported by a Memorandum of Understanding between the Municipality of Rome and the Guscio di Noce association, which had previously partnered with Luiss on horticulture projects for autistic children. The University has strengthened its commitment to promoting the employment inclusion of neurodivergent individuals by bringing two individuals into the University’s workforce. This was achieved through a process developed in collaboration with suppliers involved in the University’s activities.
