Who we are and how we're organised

Over time, Luiss has established a sustainability governance model designed to ensure effective oversight of ESG issues and coordinated management of related initiatives. Through dedicated guidance and coordination functions, the University promotes an integrated vision of sustainability, ensuring consistency between strategic objectives, operational activities, and the generation of positive impacts for stakeholders.

In 2024, the position of Rector’s Advisor for Diversity, Inclusion and Sustainability was established. This role involves responsibility for designing social and environmental sustainability policies, as well as serving as the Rector’s Delegate for Disability. The ESG (Environmental, Social & Governance) function operates in close collaboration with this role, working to enhance, implement, and monitor the University’s actions in the areas of sustainability and inclusion.

To promote the integration of sustainable development issues, the ESG Committee has been in operation since 2024. Led by the Advisor and coordinated by the Planning, Steering Control & ESG Area, the Committee fosters the connection between Teaching, Research, and the Third Mission. It includes the Deans of the Undergraduate and Graduate Schools, the Vice-Rector for Rankings, Accreditations, and Quality, the Director of Research & Governance, the Director of Academic Affairs, and the Head of Planning, Steering Control & ESG.

To complete the ESG governance structure and in line with UNI/PdR 125:2022, the Steering Committee for Gender Equality was established. It comprises the Rector’s Advisor, representatives from the management team, and the Social Innovation and D&I office.

The Ethics Committee, established in 2020, also remains active in promoting and ensuring compliance with the University's Code of Ethics.

Student engagement is facilitated through the Sustainability & Inclusion Working Group within the Student Bodies Council, which ensures dialogue and collaboration between the student community and the ESG function.

Furthermore, as part of its transformation into a Benefit Corporation and in line with B Corp principles, Luiss Business School S.p.A. SB has appointed a Dean for Sustainability and Impact.
