Concerts
The Cultural Activities department pays particular attention to the talent of students at Luiss who pursue strong passions in their personal lives and achieve excellent results. Through a series of concert initiatives, musical talent is promoted, supported, and celebrated across the University’s venues and settings.
Literary counterpoints. A sonic journey in three movements
During the 2026/2027 academic year, Luiss presents “Literary Counterpoints. A sound journey in three movements”, a cultural journey divided into three events that connects literature, music, and the University’s spaces.
The project, developed from three volumes published by Luiss University Press, goes beyond the traditional format of a book launch and concert series to create a cohesive narrative where the written word becomes the source and subject of musical exploration.
For each event, Angela Chiofalo from the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia will curate an original repertoire based on the atmosphere, themes, and ideas of the selected volume. The piano will serve as the common thread, with the possibility of involving additional musicians or ensembles.
The journey will begin on 11 December 2026 at Luiss with “Listening to Images. Seeing Sounds”, inspired by Jorge Luis Borges' The Craft of Poetry and dedicated to the relationship between words, imagination, and sound.
The second movement, “Il cuore della notte in musica”, scheduled for 21 March 2027 in the Sala delle Colonne on the Viale Pola Campus, will draw on the book Il cuore della notte by Silvia Andreoli to explore the dimensions of silence, memory, desire, and interiority through music and readings.
The series will conclude on 7 May 2027 with “Fughe verso il futuro”, dedicated to Stanisław Lem’s Summa Technologiae and the themes of technology, artificial intelligence, and the new frontiers of human imagination.
A single speaker-guide will accompany the audience throughout the entire cycle, ensuring a continuous narrative and delivering a cultural experience where music, books, and contemporary reflection interact.
Each event will also feature the Luiss University Press volume that inspired it, inviting the audience to continue the experience through reading and fostering an ongoing dialogue between publishing, music, and culture.
