Diploma Supplement

Diploma Supplement

The Diploma Supplement is a supplementary report to the official qualification obtained upon completion of a course of study at a university or higher education institution. This document describes the nature, level, context, content, and status of the studies completed by the student, in accordance with the standard model developed on the initiative of the European Commission, the Council of Europe, and UNESCO. The Diploma Supplement combines information about the degree with a detailed description of the actual course of study. This makes it easier to assess and recognize Italian degrees abroad for both academic and professional purposes, and it promotes the free and transparent movement of graduates internationally.

The Diploma Supplement is issued in a bilingual version (Italian and English) and consists of 8 sections:

  • Graduate's personal details
  • Information about the degree and the issuing institution
  • Information on the level of the qualification (cycle, duration, and admission requirements)
  • Information on the curriculum, exam grades, and final grade, with details on the applicable grading system
  • Information on the functions of the degree (educational pathways accessible with the degree, professional status conferred by the degree)
  • Additional information or sources of information
  • Certification
  • Information on the higher education system of the country where the degree was awarded.
