Certificates: request and issuance
In compliance with current regulations, Luiss only issues stamped certificates that can be used solely in dealings between private individuals. These certificates bear the following legally required wording:
“This certificate may not be presented to public administration bodies or private operators of public services.”
The types of stamped certificates that can be requested as a standard service, available in both Italian and English, are:
Certificate of enrollment
Certificate of enrollment detailing the exams taken
Certificate of enrollment detailing exams taken and weighted average
Certificate of enrollment showing only language exams and indicating the level
Certificate of study plan
Certificate of thesis title assignment
Certificate of contributions paid (per academic and/or calendar year)
For certifications that require specific details and/or additional notes, such as certificates for international use and/or those with the handwritten signature of the Responsible Manager, please contact the Student Office via email at segreteria@luiss.it. This is to confirm feasibility, estimate processing time, and ensure they can be issued within a maximum of three business days.
How to request and collect certificatesTo request stamped certificates, you can choose one of the following methods:
Email the certificate request form (without affixing a revenue stamp) and a copy of your valid ID to segreteria@luiss.it. Once the duly completed request is received, the Student Office will issue the revenue stamps in the personal Web Self Service area under “Payments.” These include one revenue stamp for € 16.00 for the request and an additional revenue stamp for €16.00 for each certificate requested. These must be paid online by credit card. Once payment is verified, the requested certificates will be sent within a maximum of three business days, as specified on the request form. If the documents are sent by registered mail, the applicant releases the University from any responsibility for their potential loss. Please consider the number of days required for shipping and delivery.
Go in person or send a representative by making an appointment with the Student Office via email at segreteria@luiss.it. You will need to bring a valid ID, the certificate request form, and the required number of €16.00 revenue stamps for the certificates you are requesting, plus one to affix to the request form (for example, if you are requesting two certificates, you will need three €16.00 revenue stamps). Certificates are issued upon request, except for those that require specific details and/or additional notes. If a third party is acting as a proxy, they must bring their own ID, a duly signed proxy on plain paper, and a photocopy of the principal's ID.
Pursuant to Article 15 of Law 183/2011, public administrations and public service providers can no longer request or accept certificates from individuals that have been issued by other public offices.
When dealing with public administration bodies and public service providers, certificates are always replaced by self-declarations, which these same public administration bodies and public service providers are required to accept, or else they will be in breach of their official duties.
In compliance with this legislation, Luiss provides pre-filled self-declaration forms related to one's course of study, which are also available in English. Self-declarations—found in Web Self Service under Enrollment/Certificates > Self-declarations—are issued on plain paper and are not subject to any stamp duty.
<p class="text-align-justify"> It’s important to remember that the individual is personally responsible for what they declare , and that the Administration may conduct appropriate checks and take any necessary measures. It is advisable, especially internationally, to verify that a self-declaration can be accepted in place of stamped certificates issued by the Student Office.
