Luiss Acea and Renault join forces for a new electric carsharing project
A new chapter begins for Luiss Green Mobility: ten years after its launch, the sustainable mobility project is renewed through a partnership with Acea and Renault Italia. Today, on the Luiss Campus in Viale Romania, a new fleet of 12 electric Renault 5s was unveiled for university car sharing, available to students, faculty, and staff.
Renault 5 E-tech Electric for shared mobility
The Renault 5 E-tech Electric, an icon of Europe's electric transition, was chosen for its design, connectivity, and safety features:
- a range of up to 410 km (WLTP cycle),
- 26 driver assistance devices,
- Google Play integration for apps and entertainment while parked and charging.
Acea's digital services and technology
Digital service management and recharging will be available 24 hours a day, directly through the Luiss App, thanks to integration with the ICT platform based on B.O.M.T.S. (Banking Operations Maintenance Telematics and Security) technology developed by a.Quantum – Acea Group.
The “ribbon-cutting” ceremony at the Luiss Campus on Viale Romania was attended by the university’s leadership and the project’s partner companies: Rita Carisano, Luiss’s General Director; Sébastien Guigues, CEO of Renault Italia; Fabrizio Palermo, CEO of Acea; and Enrico Resmini, CEO of a.Quantum.
A commitment that goes beyond car sharing
In addition to electric car sharing, the University already provides a free shuttle service using electric and gas-powered vehicles to connect the Via Parenzo and Viale Romania campuses. It also offers charging stations for electric vehicles on campus, with 100% of the electricity used coming from renewable sources.
Furthermore, this year, the Green Mobility project is expanding with two additional initiatives thanks to the partnership with Acea: a study to optimize energy consumption and the launch of energy flexibility at the University’s campuses, which strengthens its position as a laboratory for sustainable innovation.
Launched during European Mobility Week, the project represents another step in the University’s broader commitment to developing high-impact activities for environmental protection. It demonstrates how collaboration between universities and businesses can create value not only for those who use the campuses daily, but also for the urban development of the surrounding area.
