Luiss confirms its UNI/PdR 125:2022 certification for gender equality
Luiss has successfully passed the audit to maintain its UNI/PdR 125:2022 corporate certification for gender equality, confirming recognition for Luiss, Luiss Business School, and LEME.
The result reflects the University’s commitment to creating a study and work environment that is increasingly fair, inclusive, and focused on people’s well-being. At the same time, the confirmation of the certification represents both recognition of the progress made and an incentive to continue improving policies focused on gender equality, valuing diversity, and equal opportunities.
New measures for parenting and work-life balance
Over the past year, Luiss has strengthened its support for individuals with family and care responsibilities, introducing new measures to help balance work and personal life.
Key initiatives include:
- greater flexibility for staff regarding their working hours;
- the option for parents with children up to six years old to work remotely for up to two days a week;
- an extension of mandatory paternity leave from 10 to 15 days, with full pay; and a financial incentive to encourage fathers to take parental leave.
These measures are complemented by the Parent Care Programme and the workshop ‘Parenting and work: the soft skills we don’t put on our CV’, which focuses on recognising the skills developed through parenting.
Welfare and services for families
In 2026, the Summer Educamp – the summer centre for the children of staff and faculty – was expanded to include a third week of educational and recreational activities. The extension provides additional support to families during the school closure period.
A new corporate welfare platform has also been introduced, allowing staff to access services, reimbursements, and vouchers. The portal has been designed to simplify the management of daily needs and contribute to people's well-being.
Preventing and combating gender-based violence
Luiss has also strengthened its initiatives to promote a culture based on respect, safety, and inclusion.
Actions undertaken include:
- a self-defence course for students, staff, and faculty;
- joining the Punti Viola project, a network of safe spaces designed to provide immediate refuge and support to people in situations of vulnerability or potential violence.
The findings of the 2025 Gender Report
The University’s progress is also reflected in the 2025 Gender Report, which highlights:
- a substantial gender balance among the student body, with 48.8% female and 51.2% male;
- the superior academic performance of female students across all degree programmes;
- an increase in the number of female full professors;
- an increase in female representation in management and governance bodies.
The document also identifies areas requiring further action, such as gender gaps in certain STEM courses and in the economic and financial fields, as well as the ongoing vertical segregation within the faculty and management.
Therefore, the confirmation of the UNI/PdR 125:2022 certification does not represent an end point, but a new stage in Luiss's journey towards a community that is increasingly inclusive, equitable, and capable of valuing people and their differences.
