Clown therapy with the non-profit organization Teniamoci per Mano

The project will not be reactivated for the 2020-21 academic year.

Teniamoci per mano’s mission is to spread happiness and bring joy where there is pain, fear, and loneliness.

Since 2010, they have been caring for children, families, and elderly people in pediatric wards, group homes, and nursing homes. Together with them, they combat illness, pain, and fear through the beneficial effects of laughter, imagination, and positive emotions. These can improve health and help people face the future with optimism.

How? Through clown therapy, which uses the power of magic, play, and improvisation to create a positive and fun atmosphere in the hospital. This helps many sick children, young people, and seniors cope with their hospital stay, giving them back the will to fight and not give up.

The first step to becoming a volunteer is to attend a classroom training session led by a specialized trainer, which will introduce participants to the techniques of clown therapy.

The training course reserved for Luiss students, which must be attended in full, will take place on October 11, 12, and 13.

Upon completion, each participant will receive a red clown nose, an Association T-shirt, and a personalized smock.

After completing their training, the volunteers, dressed as clowns, visit partner hospitals to lead fun and educational activities, celebrate, and create a positive and enjoyable atmosphere using the clown's tools (games, humor, theatrical improvisation, balloons, magic tricks, puppets, music, etc.).

The facilities where the service can be provided are:

  • Policlinico Umberto I
  • Bambino Gesù Children's Hospital
  • Sandro Pertini Hospital
  • San Camillo Forlanini Hospital
  • A nursing home for the elderly

There is a maximum of 3 students allowed.
