Requesting and issuing certificates/self-declarations
In compliance with current regulations, Luiss only issues stamped certificates that can be used solely in dealings between private individuals. These certificates bear the following legally required wording:
“This certificate may not be presented to public administration bodies or to private operators of public services.”
The types of stamped certificates that can be requested as a standard service, available in both Italian and English, are:
Degree certificate
Degree certificate listing the exams taken
Degree certificate showing only language exams and the corresponding level
Degree certificate with the title of the thesis
Degree certificate indicating academic years (for redemption purposes)
Certificate of study plan
Certificate of contributions paid (by academic and/or calendar year)
For certificates that require specific details and/or additional notes, such as those for international use or bearing the handwritten signature of the responsible manager, please contact the Graduates Office via email at laureati@luiss.it. This will allow us to confirm feasibility, estimate processing time, and ensure issuance within a maximum of three business days.
How to request and collect certificatesTo request stamped certificates, you can choose one of the following methods:
Email the certificate request form (without affixing a revenue stamp) and a copy of your valid ID to laureati@luiss.it. Upon receipt of the duly completed request, the Graduates Office will issue the revenue stamps in the Web Self Service personal area under “Payments” (one revenue stamp of € 16.00 for the request and an additional revenue stamp of €16.00 for each certificate requested). These are to be paid online by credit card. Once payment is verified, the requested certificates will be sent within a maximum of three business days, as specified on the request form. If the documents are sent by registered mail, the applicant releases the University from any responsibility for their possible loss. Please consider the days needed for shipping and delivery.
Go in person or send a representative with an appointment scheduled with the Graduates Office at Via Parenzo, 11. The appointment can be arranged by emailing laureati@luiss.it. You will need to bring a valid ID, the certificate request form, and the required number of €16.00 revenue stamps for the certificates you are requesting, plus an additional stamp for the request form (for example, if you are requesting 2 certificates, you will need 3 €16.00 revenue stamps). Certificates are issued upon request, except for those that require special specifications and/or additional notes. If a third party is acting as a proxy, they must bring their own ID, a duly signed proxy on plain paper, and a photocopy of the principal's ID.
Pursuant to Article 15 of Law 183/2011, public administrations and public service providers can no longer request or accept certificates from individuals that have been issued by other public offices.
When dealing with public administration bodies and public service providers, certificates are always replaced by self-declarations, which these same public administration bodies and public service providers are required to accept, or else they will be in breach of their official duties.
<p class="text-align-justify"> In compliance with this regulation, Luiss provides pre-filled self-declaration forms related to your course of study, which are also available in English. Self-declarations are available in Web Self Service (under “Enrollment/Certificates” > “Self-declarations”). They are issued on plain paper and are not subject to any stamp duty. It’s important to remember that the individual is personally responsible for what they declare , and the Administration may conduct appropriate checks and take any necessary measures.
It is advisable, especially internationally, to verify that the self-declaration can be accepted in place of the stamped certificates issued by the Student Office.
To access the service, you must have your User ID and password (PIN) ready. If you no longer have this information, you can send a request via email to laureati@luiss.it, attaching a valid ID.
We recommend keeping your details up to date, especially your email address, which will allow you to automatically recover your credentials .
