Employability at the Undergraduate School

At Luiss, employability is an integral part of the educational experience from day one, helping students develop skills and prepare for their future academic and professional choices.

At the Luiss Undergraduate School, employability is an integral part of the educational journey right from day one. The School is an incubator of ideas, a constantly evolving environment where tradition and innovation come together to make sense of changes in society and the world of work.

Our undergraduate Degree Programmes combine a solid academic foundation with transferable and digital skills, as well as practical experience, preparing students to make informed decisions about their future education and careers.

Through an educational model that integrates teaching, guidance, personal development, and engagement with businesses, institutions, and professionals, we support students as they gradually shape their own paths. We provide them with the knowledge, skills, and tools they need to continue their studies or transition into the world of work.

Employability Journey: the training pathway

Employability is built up gradually throughout the entire university journey, through experiences, tools, and opportunities for discussion that enable students to develop new skills, gain a deeper understanding of various professional contexts, and prepare for the choices they will make next.

The Undergraduate School’s Employability Journey supports students from initial guidance right through to the training and professional opportunities available after graduation.

The Luiss Orientation Service helps students and their families explore the Undergraduate School's range of courses and the various routes to admission. Through Open Days, meetings, and dedicated initiatives, we provide the tools to help you identify the university pathway that best aligns with your interests, aptitudes, and future goals.

University guidance experiences and resources

  • Orientation Days: opportunities to meet with the Dean, Programme Directors, faculty members, and alumni to learn about the Luiss educational model and the Undergraduate School’s range of programmes, as well as to engage directly with the community.
  • Luiss Summer School: We offer secondary school students an initial taste of university life through lectures, activities, and opportunities for discussion. These experiences allow them to explore their interests and aptitudes, helping them to make a more informed choice about their future course of study.
  • Freshers' Week: We help students settle into the Luiss community with classroom activities, challenges, and interactive workshops that let them experience teamwork, collaboration, and discussion right from the start.

We complement academic education with experiences that broaden and enrich students' preparation. Through AI Literacy, Humanities, Challenges, workshops, and Legal Clinics, we foster critical thinking, engagement with real-world problems, the informed use of new technologies, and interaction with the professional world. Digital badges and micro-credentials also make it possible to certify and highlight the skills acquired during the course.

Experiences and tools for developing professional and transferable skills

  • Personalisation of the educational pathway: the option to choose a specialist major and elective courses enables students to design an educational pathway tailored to their own interests and professional aspirations, thereby customising their preparation to align with their career goals.
  • Challenges and Legal Clinics: Practical, hands-on experience is enhanced through interdisciplinary challenges undertaken in collaboration with companies, NGOs, institutions, and law firms. This enables students to apply the theoretical knowledge they have acquired to real-world problems and to develop skills through practical experience.
  • Guest Speakers: Engagement with the world of work and direct contact with professionals are ensured by the presence of industry experts in the classroom. These experts share real-world cases and discuss key issues in their respective fields, bringing students closer to the professions and to various working environments.
  • Skill Development: The Undergraduate School organises cross-disciplinary activities as part of an educational ecosystem designed to strengthen students' soft skills, their awareness of ethical issues, and their career guidance. Participants will be able to build a versatile professional profile that aligns with market needs. They will combine the specialist knowledge from their degree programme with the development of transferable, digital, and creative skills, while maintaining a constant focus on the issues of sustainability, inclusion, and diversity.
  • VolontariaMENTE: Students enjoy an experience that combines academic education with personal development. The project enables participants to engage with complex and diverse contexts, experiencing the realities of day-to-day work firsthand and developing interpersonal sensitivity, adaptability, and consideration for others – essential human and professional qualities for becoming conscientious leaders capable of making a positive impact in their respective environments.
  • Legality and Merit: The project promotes the values of legality, merit, and respect for the rules through dialogue between young people studying at Luiss and young people from secondary schools across Italy, or those currently in juvenile detention centres. Guided by Luiss students – who become genuine “Ambassadors of Legality” – participants tackle key issues such as active citizenship, the fight against corruption and organised crime, the protection of human rights and the environment, inclusion, and a culture of respect.
  • Skill Empowerment: Personalised support with CV preparation, LinkedIn profile optimisation, and mock job interviews, along with dedicated tools to help you prepare for entering the world of work.

Through the Luiss Career Service, we connect students with companies, institutions, and organisations, both national and international. We offer internship opportunities and chances to meet recruiters, employers, and Career Advisers, enabling you to gain a deeper understanding of the job market and start building your career path while still studying.
