With the enactment of Law 240/2010, which reformed the university system, the Evaluation Unit became the university body responsible for verifying the quality of education and research, as well as performing all the functions of an Independent Evaluation Body.

Within the AVA system, the Evaluation Unit plays a key role in evaluating its university’s quality assurance policies, ensuring that the structures and procedures outlined in the system are formally and substantively implemented. Following this evaluative analysis, the Unit provides recommendations in its annual report to improve all organizational, teaching, and research processes.
