Honor Code for students and graduates

Honor Code for students and graduates

This Honor Code aims to provide students and recent graduates with a set of guidelines for conduct during internships and/or when participating in events and initiatives promoted by the Career Service. The Honor Code aims to serve as a valuable tool for students and recent graduates, providing guidance on how to conduct themselves during the delicate initial stages of entering the workforce.

Maintaining appropriate conduct in the various situations where you encounter the world of work is crucial for building a strong personal reputation in the professional sphere.

Adhering to the following rules of conduct also helps prevent behaviors and attitudes that could harm Luiss University’s reputation with companies, institutions, and other stakeholders.

Rules of conduct for internships

Application

When applying, carefully read all the details in the Job Description to ensure you meet all the requirements, are available, and are genuinely interested in completing the internship as outlined in the Job Description.

Only consider offers that align with your career path and meet the employer’s requirements.

Submit your application by the deadline (please note: companies often start the selection process before the application submission deadline).

Always send your resume – and any other required documents – via email, along with a brief cover letter. Remember to sign the message. In the subject line, include the specified references for submitting your application.

Please note that failure to comply with the rules listed above will result in automatic exclusion from the selection process.

Job interview

Once you have scheduled an appointment for the selection interview, you need to:

  • Before the interview, gather specific information about the company (e.g., its sector, characteristics, activities, products/services, governance, and recent news) that can help you refine your application.
  • Prepare to review your educational and professional background in your resume, outlining the reasons behind your choices and expressing your future expectations.
  • Arrive at the appointment on time and dressed appropriately.
  • Use clear language appropriate for the hiring process.
  • Maintain a professional and respectful demeanor throughout the interview with everyone involved, demonstrating interest, motivation, and a proactive approach. Always keep in mind the role of the recruiter, maintaining a formal and non-confidential relationship.

Inability to participate in a selection process

If, due to an unforeseen event, you are no longer able to attend the interview, you must still promptly notify the company or institution. If you don’t have a direct contact, try to find it on your own online, or contact the Career Service Office. An unexcused absence from a selection interview not only undermines the selection process itself but also damages the University’s reputation.

Accepting or declining an internship opportunity

The Career Service or the host organization/company will notify you via email if you are selected. The student must respond to the notification within 5 business days, indicating whether they accept or decline the internship offer.

In the event of a withdrawal, reasons pertaining to circumstances that the candidate could have known and assessed after carefully reading the Job Description will not be considered admissible. In particular, the absence of expense reimbursement, if already specified in the offer, is not accepted as a justification for refusal.

Withdrawal from the internship

Following the Academic Senate’s decision, any withdrawal from an internship within a timeframe that prevents another student from taking advantage of the opportunity, or that damages the University’s reputation, will be reported to the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs. The Vice Rector may then inform the Chair of the Degree Examination Board, given its relevance to the assessment of the student’s overall academic record.

“In & Off Campus” Events – Code of Conduct

Participation and registration

To participate in the various events held each semester, you must sign up and register whenever required. Registration must be completed within the specified timeframe and signifies a commitment to participate.

Participation in the Event requires punctuality, and attendees must remain in the classroom until the Event concludes.

Cancellation

If, after registering for an Event, you are no longer able to attend, you must promptly notify us as per the specified procedures.

The Career Service Office events are very popular, so failing to attend without giving notice not only damages the student’s reputation but also deprives other interested colleagues of the opportunity to participate (and results in wasted time and resources).

Furthermore, for events featuring company representatives, failing to attend could have negative consequences for future selection processes (for example, missing out on mock interviews) and for the university’s reputation.

Interactions with Company and University Representatives

During meetings, it is essential to conduct oneself in a serious and respectful manner toward every individual, whether they are from within or outside the University.

For events with companies or institutions, it’s also advisable to arrive on time and prepared, having gathered information about the invited organizations beforehand. Active participation and appropriate attire are recommended.

Feedback

When requested, we encourage you to actively contribute to improving content and services by completing the post-Event evaluation questionnaires.
