Highlights

Students selected for the Double Degree will be registered at Luiss during their time at WCL and will continue to pay tuition fees to Luiss. Students will be exempt from paying tuition at WCL; however, for the 2026–2027 academic year, they will be required to cover the following administrative costs related to the program:

• Student health insurance: approximately $3,000 for 2 semesters, if obtained through WCL – tbc
• Fees: $900 per semester ($1,800 total) - tbc

To earn the two diplomas, students must comply with the rules and conditions of both their home and host universities regarding credits, attendance, deadlines, and more.

Application Process

The Call for Applications will be published in early December 2025, and students will be able to apply starting January 8 , 2026. Further information on the deadlines is provided in the table below. Details regarding the application process not available on this webpage will be provided in the 2026/27 Call for Applications, which will be uploaded to the “Useful documents” section at the bottom of this page.

Who can apply

Students enrolled in the fourth year of the single-cycle Master's degree program in Law can apply to this program. Depending on their major, students can apply for:

  • LL.M. in International Legal Studies, open to students majoring in International Law, Criminal Law, Corporate and Tax Law, Business Law and Economics, European Law, or Civil Law 
  • LL.M. in Law and Government, open to students majoring in Criminal Law, Corporate and Tax Law, Business Law and Economics, Civil Law, or Administrative Law 
  • LL.M. in International Human Rights and Humanitarian Law, open to students majoring in International Law 
  • LL.M. in Intellectual Property and Technology, open to students majoring in Law and Innovation or Business Law and Economics 
  • LL.M. in Advocacy, open to students majoring in Criminal Law 
  • LL.M. in International Business and Trade Law, open to students majoring in European Law 
  • LL.M. in Gender, International, and Comparative Law open to students majoring in International Law, Criminal Law, or Civil Law 
  • LL.M. in International Arbitration and Business Law open to students majoring in Corporate and Tax Law, Business Law and Economics, International Law, and Civil Law
  • LL.M. in Law and Legislation open to students majoring in Law and Innovation, Administrative Law, or European Law

Available slots

For the 2026–2027 mobility year, two students can participate in this program.

Requirements

Eligible students can apply if they meet the following requirements:

  • have passed and registered at least 180 credits in total
  • have a weighted average grade of 27/30 or higher
  • hold one of the following English certificates:
    • TOEFL: minimum score of 563 for the paper-based test; minimum score of 84 for the iBT test 
    • IELTS: minimum overall score of 6.5 (online tests accepted) 
    • Pearson Academic (PTE): minimum score of 56 
    • Duolingo English Test: minimum score of 110

Language certificates must not be older than two years as of the start of the mobility (August/September 2026). Applicants must meet the requirements with a single test. 

Selection Procedure

Luiss University will select a shortlist of candidates based on a non-disputable evaluation of the student's academic profile and motivation. Further details about the selection process will be published along with the call.

Results will be communicated at WLC, which reserves the right to make the final selection.

The selection process involves three steps:

Step 1

Eligible candidates will be ranked based on an analysis of their academic performance (credits 53%, internship credits 2%, weighted average grade 45%).

Step 2An interview will focus on the candidate's motivation, academic background, and previous international or professional experiences. 
Step 3The partner universities, after analyzing the Luiss Commission ranking and the candidates’ applications, have the right to confirm the final ranking.

Study Plan

Requirements for Luiss students to earn the WCL LL.M.: 

All students must complete the 24-credit program as outlined by the in-residence LL.M. degree they choose. Students are required to take the following mandatory courses: 

  • American Legal Institutions 
  • Legal Research and Writing 

Individual programs may require additional courses. This information will be shared with the student upon admission to the dual-degree program. To remain in good academic standing, LL.M. students must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 (a C average). All LL.M. students are required to complete either a Research Track or a Practical Skills Track. Students in the Research Track will complete a research paper to qualify for graduation. Students in the Practical Skills Track must complete an approved externship before graduating.
