Highlights 

The program provides a solid foundation for all students aspiring to a career in international law.

The program aims to recruit ambitious and motivated students, offering them the chance to learn in an exciting academic environment dedicated to preparing students to enter and continue in the legal profession with the highest possible level of skill. 

The program requires tuition payment.

In addition to tuition fees at Luiss, students participating in this program will also pay tuition fees to Temple University at a 50% discount. Therefore, the final tuition for Luiss students for 2026–2027 is $18,000. For selected Luiss students, the $50 application fee is waived.

Please note that tuition does not cover living expenses.

Application Process 

The Call for Applications will be published in early December 2025, and students will be able to apply starting January 8, 2026. Further information on the deadlines is provided in the table below. Details regarding the application process not available on this web page will be provided in the 2026/27 Call for Applications, which will be uploaded to the 'Useful documents' section at the bottom of this page.

Who can apply

Students enrolled in the fourth year of the single-cycle Master's program in Law. Depending on their major, fourth-year students can apply for:

• LL.M. for Foreign-Trained Lawyers, open to students majoring in Criminal Law, Corporate and Tax Law, Business Law and Economics, Civil Law, or Administrative Law.

Each year, students can participate in this program.

Requirements

  • Weighted average grade of 27/30 or higher
  • Credits: at least 180 ECTS
  • English language:
    • TOEFL: minimum score of 88 IBT
    • TOEFL Home Edition
    • IELTS indicator
    • IELTS: minimum 6.5 with no individual score below 6.0. (Online tests accepted)
    • Duolingo English Test: 115

Language certificates must not be older than two years from the start of the mobility program (August/September 2026). Applicants must meet the requirements with a single test. 

Selection Procedure

Luiss will select a shortlist of candidates based on a non-disputable evaluation of the student's academic profile and motivation. An Academic Committee appointed by the Dean of the Department of Law will select students based on a non-disputable evaluation.

Results will be communicated to Temple University, which reserves the right to make the final selection.

Selection Criteria

The selection process involves three steps:

Step 1

Eligible candidates will be ranked based on an analysis of their academic performance (credits 53%, internship credits 2%, weighted average grade 45%). 

Step 2An interview will focus on the candidate's motivation, academic background, and previous international or professional experiences. 
Step 3The partner universities, after analyzing the Luiss Commission ranking and the candidates’ applications, have the right to confirm the final ranking.
