The Luiss Single-Cycle Master’s Degree in Law offers a comprehensive and in-depth legal education, preparing professionals capable of operating across different areas of law and addressing complex issues in both national and international contexts.
The programme develops strong theoretical knowledge together with practical skills in legal reasoning, interpretation, negotiation and problem-solving. Teaching encourages active participation through case studies, mock trials, negotiations, legal clinics and interaction with academics, professionals, and representatives from institutions and businesses.
The aim is to train legal professionals with a critical and interdisciplinary perspective, able to apply law to the transformations of society, the economy and technology, and to build a study and career path aligned with their professional interests.
Director
The study plan of the Luiss Single-Cycle Master’s Degree in Law is structured over five years and covers the main areas of law, including civil law, criminal law, constitutional law, administrative law, commercial law, international law, European law and labour law.
During the first three and a half years, students acquire a comprehensive foundation in core legal disciplines and progressively develop the ability to interpret legislation, formulate legal arguments and apply their knowledge to real-world cases.
In the final year and a half, students can personalise their study path by choosing one of the nine profiles included in the curriculum. These profiles feature specialised courses, also taught in English, characterised by a practical and experiential approach.
The study plan combines lectures, case studies, simulations, negotiations and legal clinics, allowing students to specialise in a specific area of law and acquire skills that can be immediately applied in legal professions, institutions and organisations.

Constitutional Law 1
The course aims to provide students with an introduction to basic legal concepts and constitutional law on topics such as the State and forms of government, sources of law, the constitutional setup and constitutional rights.
History of Law
The course analyses the development of law (both private and public) from antiquity to the present, focusing on judicial and legislative sources as well as scholarly opinion.
Metodologia della Scienza Giuridica or Legal Theory
The course aims to introduce students to legal science methods, analysing fundamental concepts and techniques of interpretation and argumentation in law.
Istituzioni di Diritto Romano or Roman law
The course analyses the main elements of Roman law and civil procedure, within the Roman system of sources of law, in order to provide students with the necessary knowledge to understand the mechanisms that form the basis of modern legal thought.
Private Law - annualità
Economia Politica or Economics
The course aims to introduce students to the fundamentals of economic theory with an emphasis on the economic rationale of laws and institutions.
Legal IT and the Law of Technological Innovation
The course aims to introduce the basic concepts of IT in the legal sphere and the skills required to use the modern digital technologies necessary for the work of lawyers and legal research.

The course analyses the legal system of the European Union with regard to the integration process, the institutional framework, the system of legal sources and their application in the Member States, and the system of judicial protection.
Commercial Law 1
The course is devoted to the study of business law and, in particular, company law, with the aim of highlighting the role of business law in the development of companies and the economy, between regulation and freedom of enterprise.
Data and Information Security Law
The course explores the concepts of artificial intelligence, neural networks and machine learning as they apply to the legal field.
Diritto Costituzionale 2 or Constitutional Law 2
The course delves into the study of the constitutional and supranational system of protection of fundamental rights.

Criminal Law 1
The course is centred upon an examination of constitutional tenets and the fundamental categories of criminal law, in addition to the concepts delineated in the general section of the Criminal Code.
Tax Law
The course aims to provide students with a thorough grounding in the core topics of tax law and an overview of the current tax system with a focus on income tax and VAT.
Business Law 2
The course examines businesses in the market and the tools that they can avail of, the safeguards and the financial system to which they can turn for resources, as well as insolvency proceedings and the like.
Civil Procedure Law
The objective of the course is to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of civil procedure, encompassing the requisite knowledge and skills for navigating ordinary first-instance proceedings and appeals as well as special, enforcement, interlocutory and alternative proceedings.
Administrative Law 1
The course is aimed at studying the legal framework that governs the organisation and operations of the civil service and public authorities, as well as an analysis of the administrative processes and mechanisms employed by those entities.
Criminal Law 2
The course focuses on the study of the principal offences set forth in the Criminal Code, including those pertaining to offences against persons, honour, property, public order, the administration of justice and public administration.

The course aims to equip students with the requisite knowledge of the civil law aspects of information technology and new technologies.

The course introduces students to the foundations and evolution of the EU intellectual property law, with a special focus on the relationship between innovation, intellectual property law and ethics.
Data Protection or Cybersecurity: Regulation and Policy – Politiche e Regolazione
Data Protection - The course aims at analysing the relevant aspects of the personal data protection, as a fundamental individual right as stated in the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the EU, the GDPR and, in Italy, Legislative Decree No 101/2018. The course, through the study of cybersecurity from a legal and regulatory point of view, aims at providing students with an overview of the risks, with particular regard to the criminal side, connected to the digitalisation of economic and communication processes. Starting from October 2026, the admission calls will be published, providing the requirements, application procedures and deadlines for submitting an application for admission to the Single-Cycle Master’s Degree in Law.
Tuition Fee
The annual tuition fee for enrollment in the first year of the Single-Cycle Master’s Degree in Law for the 2027/2028 academic year is €15,000, payable in three installments, in addition to the regional tax.
Scholarships and Financial Aid
Luiss offers scholarships, financial support and partial or full tuition fee waivers, also thanks to the support of public and private partners. Students can therefore access concrete financial support throughout their university journey.
The Single-Cycle Master’s Degree in Law provides the preparation required to access the main legal professions and pursue professional paths in both the public and private sectors.
Graduates can prepare for examinations and competitive selection procedures for the judiciary, notarial profession, legal profession, State Attorney’s Office, prefectural administration, diplomatic career and other roles within public administration.
The education acquired also enables graduates to work in law firms, companies, consulting firms, institutions, public authorities and international organisations, holding roles in legal, corporate, regulatory and compliance areas.
The programme also offers the opportunity to continue education and research through Master’s programmes, specialised schools and PhD programmes in specific areas of law.
