International Honours Program (IHP) - Standford Summer Session

Stanford University is recognized as one of the world's leading research and teaching institutions. Luiss and Stanford University have a cooperation agreement in the field of Economics, Management, Business and Political Science. During the International Honours Program (IHP) 2026, Luiss students will take courses, held in English, earning credits for those courses in their Luiss study plan. The International Honours Program (IHP) program is a tuition-paying program (meaning that students will pay the tuition fee to Stanford, in addition to normal tuition fees at Luiss).

Luiss students are expected to attend Stanford for eight weeks, June 20, 2026 – August 16, 2026 and must pay all fees directly to Stanford University.

Who can apply

Students enrolled in a.y. 2025-26 in the 2nd year of the Bachelor's Degree programs in

  • Economics and Business;
  • Economia e Management;
  • Management and Artificial Intelligence;
  • Business Administration;
  • Scienze Politiche;
  • Politics: Philosophy and Economics.

Requirements for 2026 year

By 16 February 2026:

  • all students are required to have an average grade equal to or above 25/30;
  • all students are required to have registered in their Luiss career at least 38 credits.
  • students enrolled in the Bachelor’s Degree programs in Economia e Management, Economics and Business, Management and Artificial Intelligence and Business Administration are required to have passed the course in Mathematics.

Students enrolled in the Bachelor’s Degrees in Economia e Management and Scienze Politiche are required to present one of the following English certificates, which should not be older than two years from the start of the program (June 2026). Hence, we will consider as valid the following English-language certificates that have been obtained from June 2024 onwards:
 

  • TOEFL iBT equal or above 91/120 IBT;
  • IELTS min. 7.0;
  • Cambridge: CPE; FCE min. grade A; CAE grade B/C;
  • Duolingo: min. 130;
  • Accademia linguistica Trinity School di Roma, Level C1;
  • Luiss Language Center, level C1;

For the selection process of this call, the English level achieved in the admission test will not be considered.

Students enrolled in the Bachelor’s Degrees in Economics and Business, Politics: Philosophy and Economics, Management and Artificial Intelligence and Business Administration are not required to present an English language certificate.

Grades' conversion in the Luiss' study plan

In order to have the courses taken at Stanford University recognized in the Luiss study plan, Luiss students will have to comply with Stanford’s rules and conditions regarding credits, attendance, deadlines, etc. Selected students can choose two to three courses at Stanford, reaching a total of eight Stanford Units. If they pass these units, they will be recognized in their Luiss study plan as one elective course for a total of 8 ECTS.

Tuitions and Fees

For Summer Session 2026 tuition will be:

  • $9,632 for 8 units with a tuition reduction of 20% (IHP discount) already included;
  • $ 3,399 for 8 weeks living in a shared residence on campus. IHP students must live on campus;
  • $ 1,984 for the dining plans which are required for all students living on campus during the Summer Quarter;
  • $ 2,058 for the Health Insurance (Cardinal Care). All students enrolled in courses at Stanford are required to have health insurance. The University will automatically enroll students in Stanford’s Cardinal Care health insurance plan for Summer Quarter. Students are able to waive this fee with proof of acceptable alternative coverage that offers benefits comparable to those provided under Cardinal Care;
  • $271 for the Campus Health Services Fee. All registered students are required to pay a quarterly fee to cover the costs of services provided by Stanford’s Vaden Health Center. This fee is required for all students and cannot be waived;
  • $160 for the I-20 Fee. This fee covers the cost of processing a student’s I-20 and is paid to Bechtel International Center as part of the acceptance process;
  • $250 for the Document Fee. This one-time university fee offsets the cost of maintaining student records, processing transcripts requests, and other Registrar Office related services;
  • $94 for House Dues. This fee is used toward activities and events put on by residential staff at the residence hall;
  • $94 for the Technology Fee. This covers the cost of an in-room network connection and a landline with phone with local telephone service;
  • $32 for the Mail Service Fee. This fee is required for all residential students at Stanford and covers use of Stanford Package and Mailing Services to receive packages during summer.

Please note that the above-mentioned fees might be subject to change and will be confirmed in the next months.
