Investing for Good Lab

Investing for Good Lab

The Investing for Good Lab, created by Italiacamp in collaboration with companies and institutions (both national and international), allows students to explore the emerging logic of impact policies and investments. This refers to  the positive change that an organization intentionally aims to create for its stakeholders, the region, and the communities it serves over the medium to long term, in line with its business objectives. Impact is defined as a change that is intentional, incremental, and measurable.

The Lab aims to provide students with hands-on experience in the emerging paradigm of Impact Policy Making and Investing by sharing tools and methodologies for managing and evaluating impact. During the sessions, students will receive support in carrying out tasks that help analyze organizations (NGOs, companies/start-ups, SMEs, university spin-offs) with a focus on social/environmental impact. These tasks will serve as a foundation for developing impact policies, activities, and/or investments.

With the involvement of a network of national and international stakeholders, students will be tasked with analyzing and evaluating a proposed set of projects across multiple areas of investigation. The ultimate goal is to identify the best organization in terms of both economic return and impact generated.

The lessons will be complemented by executive lectures featuring key figures from the world of innovation, spanning institutions (both national and international), corporations, and finance.

Now in its 5th edition, the Investing for Good Lab is an elective course open to students from all Bachelor’s degree programs . It has proven to be a valuable tool for understanding the principles of impact management and serves as the first step in a journey that strengthens collaboration between academia, businesses, investors, and other organizations. This collaboration focuses on projects that can generate impact in areas of national and international interest. This is evidenced by the experiences of some of the organizations selected as case studies in previous editions of Investing for Good. Thanks to the partners involved, these organizations have been able to benefit from either significant funding or important development opportunities.

General rules

  • The course has a total duration of  30 hours , in addition to which the student will be required to work on the assigned project work.  To earn university credits, students must attend 80% of the total hours, which amounts to 24 hours (therefore, a maximum of 6 hours of absence is allowed), and the instructor must deem them eligible for the final assessment .

  • A tutor will be responsible for recording attendance, which will be done by signing a register. Failure to sign in and/or out will be considered an absence. There will be no exceptions to the sole criterion for awarding university credits: attendance.

  • Absence hours will be calculated based on the attendance records. Depending on the schedule or personal needs, students can take a full day off or miss individual hours across multiple lessons.

  • Once a student has chosen a course, they will not be able to earn University Credits through any other means.
