Summer volunteering

Voluntarily Summer!

Luiss Guido Carli offers all students enrolled in one of the Bachelor's, Master's, or Single-Cycle Master's programs the opportunity to challenge themselves and connect with new organizations by participating in activities with a strong practical, ethical, and social impact.

VolontariaMENTE offers our students an opportunity for experiential learning and growth. We want the activities to address a real need within the various organizations and, consequently, within the community they serve.

The aim will be to teach our students how to address the needs and challenges of others by identifying solutions that are inspired by and grounded in a real, non-simulated context, ensuring the broadest possible involvement and contribution. More specifically, our proposal goes beyond simply raising awareness about volunteering; it asks students to take concrete action to benefit and support organizations. In real-world settings, students will apply their skills and competencies while embracing key values such as justice, legality, equality, respect, and care for the environment.

The program will span four weeks of activities, which will be coordinated with the partner and scheduled for July.

General Rules

  • There will be a meeting for all participants in June; you will receive specific information about the date at a later time.
  • For each of the proposed activities, university credits will be awarded under the “Other Activities” category in the study plan. When completing the study plan, you will therefore need to select the code SJ1 to obtain credits for this type of activity. However, you can still participate even if you don't request credit recognition.
  • To have the University Credits recognized, you must participate in all activities of the chosen initiative for the entire scheduled period. Additionally, a representative from the non-profit organization must certify your actual participation in the activity. Each student must also submit a report and complete a questionnaire about the activities undertaken (which will be sent via email to your Luiss address).
  • You can only join one of the proposed projects. Once you join the project, your participation is considered confirmed, barring truly exceptional circumstances.

Additional Information

  • There is a maximum number of students for each activity. Participants will be selected based on the order in which they register. However, depending on the activity, the associations and Luiss may reserve the right to meet with registered students to verify their genuine motivation.
  • For some of the activities, an introductory interview with the partner will be required. Should the interview reveal any incompatibilities, volunteers will be directed to other activities that are still available.

Piccola casa San Giuda Taddeo

“Piccola casa San Giuda Taddeo” is a residential community that ensures the young girls it cares for receive education, support, and opportunities for socialization. The educational model is characterized by a family-like atmosphere, where each staff member contributes to creating a peaceful environment that fosters and spreads kindness and harmony, making it the connective tissue of the entire community.

Solidarity Neighborhoods

Quartieri Solidali is a project sponsored by Caritas to address one of the most overlooked emerging issues, especially in large cities: the loneliness of older people. The goal is to form small groups of volunteers, linked to local parishes, who can rebuild the connections between the elderly and the community that have often been lost, giving way to isolation that has become even more difficult to cope with after the lockdown.
