DELE

Luiss promotes and organizes DELE exam sessions in collaboration with the Instituto Cervantes in Rome, a public body established by the Spanish State to promote the teaching, study, and use of Spanish and to spread Hispanic cultures abroad.

In 2026, the Instituto Cervantes will organize two exam sessions, one in May and one in November.

Why take the DELE exam with Luiss

Luiss offers selected students an intensive DELE exam preparation course, which includes a final mock exam . The 20-hour course is delivered remotely and is taught by specialized instructors from the Instituto Cervantes. The course is completely free and reserved for students who register for the exam by paying the participation fee. Please note that the course prepares students for the following exam levels: B1, B2, C1, and C2. Upon course completion, the Instituto Cervantes will provide free access to the DELE exam model, allowing candidates to practice online right up to the day of the test. Luiss students also receive a 20% discount on the exam registration fee.

Who can register for the DELE exam?

Subscription prerequisite

All Luiss students, whether on track or notwho are officially enrolled in a Bachelor's, Master's, or single-cycle Master's program for the current academic year at the time of application.

Therefore, applications cannot be submitted by students coming from other universities who, at the moment of submission, are registered for a master’s degree program at Luiss prior to receiving their bachelor’s degree.

Language requirement

Only students who have achieved a final or intermediate level of language proficiency equal to or higher than A2.2 at Luiss, as well as those who already hold the international DELE certification (provided it was obtained within the last two years), may register for the DELE exam. The certification must be sent to cla@luiss.it by the form submission deadline.

Ad hoc test

Students who do not have a Spanish language level obtained at Luiss, or the international DELE certification, must take a placement test (written and oral) to demonstrate a language proficiency level of A2.2 or higher.

Furthermore, students who - despite having already taken the final Spanish exam at Luiss before the Summer exam sessions for 2025-2026 a.y. (May – June 2026) - have achieved a level that does not meet the one required, can take a level test.

Students attending Spanish courses ongoing in Luiss, who are supposed to achieve an interim/final level before the application deadline, are not allowed to sit the assessment test.

The written test is to be taken online starting from 10:00 am of Monday September 14 to 11:59 pm of Tuesday September 15, 2026. The oral test will be held from Thursday September 17 to Tuesday September 22, 2026 in accordance with the set procedures and timing that will be communicated to the candidate.

The test result is only essential for assessing the language skills required to sit the DELE exam. For this reason, after the test no certificate of Spanish level will be issued.

How to register

Step 1: Submit your application and verify the requirements

Students who wish to take the DELE exam must express their interest by filling out the designated online form available on this page from 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday September 8, until noon of Thursday September 10, 2026. The University Language Center will review the applications submitted via the form to ensure they meet the requirements, which include valid enrollment and a certain level of Spanish proficiency.

In order to fill out the form you need to click the link below and log in using your MyLuiss credentials.

 Apply now

As places are limited, we advise students to fill out the form as soon as possible and only if they are genuinely interested. In fact, an initial selection will also be made based on a chronological criterion, giving priority to applications submitted earlier.

The application results will be announced on Wednesday September 23, 2026.

All students who have submitted an application will receive an email from their Luiss email address (@studenti.luiss.it) notifying them whether their application has been accepted or rejected. We recommend also checking your junk mail. If the email is not received, the student must promptly contact the University Language Center to report the issue.

Step 2: Confirmation of registration for the DELE exam for eligible students

Accepted candidates must confirm their wish to take the November session of DELE by paying the registration fee within Wednesday September 30, 2026.

Upon receiving their application results, students will also receive an email from @studenti.luiss.it with a link to pay the registration fee. If the student does not receive the email, they must promptly contact the University Language Center and report the issue.

Participation in the free preparation course will only be validated upon registration for the November 2026 DELE exam through payment of the fee.

Step 3: DELE exam preparation course

The course, which spans a total of 20 hours over six days, is completely free and is reserved for students who formally register for the exam by paying the participation fee.

The course prepares students for the B1, B2, C1, and C2 exam levels and aims to provide the technical skills and tools needed to prepare for the exam’s four sections: reading comprehension, listening comprehension, written expression and interaction, and oral expression and interaction. During the final lesson, students also take a mock exam, which the instructor corrects and provides feedback on.

The course will be held on the following days and times:

  • Friday, October 9 from 2:00 pm to 5:30 pm
  • Saturday, October 10 from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm
  • Friday, October 16 from 2:00 pm to 5:30 pm

  • Friday, October 30 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm
  • Saturday, October 31 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm

As the course approaches, students will receive an email invitation detailing the classroom they should join to follow the lessons.

Each student can only be placed in one of the groups and cannot express preferences or request transfers. The course does not entitle you to educational credits or additional bonuses. Upon course completion, no certificate of participation or certificate attesting to the level of Spanish proficiency will be issued.

Step 4: Taking the DELE exam

The DELE exam will be held at the Instituto Cervantes locations. Each candidate will take the oral exam on Thursday November 12, and the written exam on Saturday November 14, 2026.
