IELTS
Luiss University promotes and holds IELTS Academic test sessions in association with International House - Accademia Britannica Rome, an IELTS test center accredited by IDP Education Australia.
Usually three test sessions, along with the related preparation courses, are held in April, July and November.
The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is one of the most popular English language certification exams, recognized by universities, governments, immigration offices, companies and job placement agencies around the world.
The test assesses the four skills: listening, reading, writing and speaking.
The test is going to be “computer-delivered” at International House in viale Manzoni, 22 – Rome. Participants will be split over more dates and it won’t be possible to express any preference. All candidates will have the opportunity to take all four papers on the same day.
Please find below the calendar for the November-December 2026 session:
- Wednesday, November 25
- Thursday, November 26
- Friday, November 27
- Sunday, November 29
- Monday, November 30

Who can register for the IELTS test
Enrollment prerequisite
All Luiss students included off-track who, at the time of submission of the application, are regularly enrolled in a bachelor, master or single cycle degree program for the ongoing academic year.
Therefore, applications cannot be submitted by students coming from other universities who, at the moment of submission, are registered for a master’s degree program at Luiss prior to receiving their bachelor’s degree.
Registration requirement
The language requirement is fundamental since the goal is to obtain a IELTS score of at least 6.5 - 7.
In any case, applications to take the IELTS Academic test will be accepted solely from students who have obtained a (final or interim) language level at Luiss equal to or higher than B2.4 or from students who have already obtained the IELTS certificate (issued within two years), that has to be sent to cla@luiss.it within the application form deadline.
Please note that the language requirement will be considered based on the candidate's active career. Moreover, if the attendance of the language course has been completed, only the final level may be taken into consideration: for this reason students who have not obtained the final level yet, cannot apply with intermediate levels previously registered.
Students enrolled in a degree program entirely taught in English will be automatically considered in possession of B2.4 level by default.
This presumed language level will not be considered in case:
- they have achieved – within the current study plan - a different English language level
- they are supposed to achieve an interim/final language level before the application deadline
The English level reached at the admission test, or any other international certificate other than IELTS, will not be taken into account.
Ad hoc test
Students who do not have a Luiss English language level must take a placement test to demonstrate a language proficiency level of B2.4 or higher.
Students who have already taken the final English language exam at Luiss in sessions prior to the summer session of the 2025/2026 academic year (May–June 2026) and have not achieved a level sufficient to meet the requirement specified in the call for applications may also take the test .
However, students enrolled in degree programs that require them to obtain a Luiss language level (intermediate or final) in time to submit their IELTS test application will not be eligible to take the test.
The test (written and oral) is to be taken between Monday, October 5 and within 12 pm of Friday, October 9 in accordance with the set procedures and timing that will be communicated to the candidate.
The test result serves only to verify the language proficiency required to take the IELTS exam. Therefore, no certificate attesting to the English language level determined during the test will be issued afterward.
How to register
Step 1: Submit your application and verify your eligibility
Students who wish to take the IELTS Academic test must convey their intention to do so by filling out the appropriate form online starting from 10:00 am of Monday, September 28 until noon of Thursday, October 1.
To fill out the form, click on the link below and log in using your MyLuiss credentials.
With reference to the application, the University Language Center will have to check fulfillment of the prerequisites (year of enrollment and language level).
The number of places available is limited, so students are advised to fill out the form as soon as possible and only if they are truly interested. To this end places will be filled on a first-come first-served basis taking into account the chronological order of arrival of the applications.
The outcome of the application will be communicated in the afternoon of Monday, October 12, 2026.
Students who submit an application will receive an e-mail on their Luiss account (@studenti.luiss.it) from the University Language Centre informing them whether their application has been accepted or rejected. In this regard, we suggest students checking their spam folder. In case students did not receive the e-mail, they are required to contact the University Language Centre in order to point it out.
Step 2: Confirmation of IELTS test registration for eligible students
Eligible candidates must confirm their intention to take the IELTS Academic test by paying the registration fee.
Registration for the test will only be confirmed upon payment of the exam fee.
Students will receive an email to their @studenti.luiss.it address with the details for making the bank transfer and the necessary instructions to allow International House staff to proceed with their registration for the test. We recommend also checking your junk mail. If the student does not receive the email, they must promptly contact the University Language Center and report the issue.
Step 3: “Test day info” and online preparation form
Once registered, candidates will receive the “Test day info” and the invitation letter from International House, which will specify the day and time of the test. This email is generated automatically by the system, so if you don't receive it, please also check your junk mail.
The same email will also include a link to the online preparation module, which will allow the candidate to practice until the day of the test. We recommend accessing the online module after completing the preparation course at Luiss.
You can find all additional information about the IELTS test and its regulations on the Useful Information page.
Step 4: IELTS preparation course
The course, which totals 20 hours spread over six days, is completely free and reserved for students who formally register for the test by paying the participation fee.
The course aims to provide the technical skills and tools needed to prepare for the best performance in the exam’s four sections: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. Additionally, during the final lesson, students take a mock exam with immediate correction and feedback from the instructor.
The course will be held remotely on the Webex platform on the following days and times:
- Friday, November 6 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm
- Saturday, November 7 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm

Each student can only be placed in one of the groups and cannot express preferences or request transfers. The course does not entitle you to educational credits or additional bonuses. Upon course completion, no certificate of participation or English language proficiency certificate will be issued.

The four exam sections will be administered via computer at the International House location at Viale Manzoni, 22 in Rome.
