German I semester 2026/2027

Starting on Friday, September 4th, and in any case in time for the first language lesson, a meeting invitation email will be sent to your Luiss email account (@studenti.luiss.it), specifying your group, the time, the course format, and the classroom where the course will take place.

Upon receiving the email, you will also be able to view your assigned language group in the Luiss app and in the class schedule

Midweek German

This language is required for the degree programs in Political Science, Politics: Philosophy and Economics, Business Administration, Economics and Business, Management and Artificial Intelligence, and Global Law.

Classes (2 hours and 30 minutes, once a week) are held online on Tuesdays, either from 8:30 AM to 11:00 AM or from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM (no preferences can be expressed). The first class will be held on Tuesday, September 15, following the written-only language proficiency test scheduled for Tuesday, September 8.

German for International Relations

A required language for the master's degree program in International Relations.

Classes (2 hours and 30 minutes, once a week) are held exclusively in person at the Viale Romania campus on Thursdays from 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM or from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM (no preferences can be expressed). The first class will be held on Thursday, September 10.

German (elective)

An optional language for those who have chosen to take the German course to earn credits under “Other Activities” or who are taking the course for zero credits.

Classes (2 hours and 15 minutes, once a week) are held exclusively in person at the Viale Pola campus on Saturday mornings from 9:00 AM to 11:15 AM or from 11:15 AM to 1:30 PM (no preferences can be expressed). The first lesson will be held on Saturday, September 12.

German II semester - 2022/2023

Starting on Friday, February 3, in time for the first lecture, students will receive a convocation email to their Luiss name.surname@studenti.luiss.it —indicating their group, the schedule, the course delivery method, and the classroom where the course will be held.

Based on their assigned group, each student can find their instructor by checking the relevant lesson schedule.

Second mandatory language for the Political Science and Politics: Philosophy and Economics degree programs

First year:

Lessons (2 hours, twice a week) are held exclusively online on Tuesday 8:30 AM–10:30 AM and Thursday 11:00 AM–1:00 PM, or alternatively on Tuesday 8:30 AM–10:30 AM and Thursday 1:30 PM–3:30 PM (it is not possible to express any preference regarding the time slot). The first lesson will be held on Tuesday, February 14, following a language assessment test scheduled for Tuesday, February 7.

Second year:

Lessons (2 hours and 30 minutes, once a week) are held exclusively online on Tuesdays from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The first lesson will be held on Tuesday, February 7.

Third year:

Lessons (2 hours and 30 minutes, once a week) are held exclusively in person at the Viale Romania campus on Thursday from 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm, or from 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm (time preferences cannot be accommodated). The first lesson will be held on Thursday, February 9th.

Students who have completed a semester abroad will be enrolled in groups based on the level they were supposed to attend before their departure. During the first lesson, the teacher will assess the students and determine if a more suitable group is needed.

Mandatory language for the degree programs in Economics and Business, Management and Computer Science, Corporate Finance, Data Science and Management, Management, Marketing (majors in English and Digital Program), and Strategic Management (English and Digital Programs)

Lessons are held exclusively online on Wednesdays from 9:00 am to 11:30 am, or from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm (time preferences cannot be requested). The first lesson will be held on Wednesday, February 15, following a language assessment test scheduled for Wednesday, February 8.

Mandatory language for the International Relations master’s degree program

Lessons (2 hours and 30 minutes, once a week) are held exclusively in person at the Viale Romania campus on Friday from 8:30 am to 11:00 am, or from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm (it is not possible to express any preference regarding the time slot). The first lesson will be held on Friday, February 17, following a language assessment test scheduled for Friday, February 10.

Optional language courses (Saturdays) for students who have selected German to earn credits under “Other Activities” or to attend the course as an additional language course (no credits).

Lessons are held once a week exclusively in person at the Viale Romania campus on Saturday mornings from 9:00 am to 11:15 am, or from 11:15 am to 1:30 pm (it is not possible to express any preference regarding time slots). The first lesson will be held on Saturday, February 18, following a language assessment test scheduled for Friday, February 11.
