Civil Protection is a system that coordinates the actions of institutions, agencies, and bodies that respond to disasters, catastrophes, and emergency situations in general. Its aim is to ensure the safety of people, property, and the environment. It operates starting at the local level and, through escalation, can reach the national level or, in special circumstances, extend to the European level. In an emergency, this system unites as a single entity, bringing together diverse stakeholders. They collaborate within a coordinated structure at various levels, based on an efficient relationship model among the different control centers.

Alerting, planning, training, spreading knowledge about civil protection, informing the public, conducting drills, and applying technical regulations are the main tools for preventing risks in the area. These measures aim to avoid or limit damage in the event of an emergency.

Your role as a volunteer:

  • Evaluate and attempt to propose viable solutions regarding the impact the coronavirus pandemic has had on the economic and educational gap between social classes.

  • Assess how social distancing due to the coronavirus pandemic has changed relationships with “others” and what impact it has had on the use and development of cutting-edge technologies.

  • New perspectives on the role of psychological disciplines (social, evolutionary, emergency, etc.) as valuable knowledge for the socio-economic and cultural revitalization of the country.

  • Attracting young volunteers to blood donation activities with the VIS association

  • Psychoeducational activities: providing detailed information to the public and potential volunteers about the importance of blood donation. For example, blood, which cannot be chemically reproduced and is transmitted between people, is the only available means to meet the demand for general plasma.

  • Direct intervention activities – providing psychological support to address factors that may prevent individuals from donating blood (e.g., fear of needles, fear of contracting external infections, etc.), or other reasons that hinder a first donation (e.g., laziness, indecision).

  • Assess individual and collective responses to the current situation. How feelings bring us closer to others despite distance, and how these feelings can be strengthened for future projects focused on social inclusion

  • Assess the various cultural, ethnic, and perceptual aspects regarding rules, as well as the propensity for transgression based on age groups and social background, to design new models and psychological frameworks focused on the principle of legality.

  • Assessing the mechanisms behind discrimination and how emotions in such a delicate moment can bring people together or drive them apart.
