Photography Workshop, 2016–2017 Academic Year
Contemporary photography
Photographer Anna Di Prospero explores the evolution of storytelling through images by analyzing the work of some of the most representative artists on the contemporary photography scene. Her goal is to provide students with new tools for reading, interpreting, planning, and telling stories.
In particular, we will focus on the developments in research photography, storytelling, and the influence of social media on how we perceive and distort reality.
The course aims to equip students with new tools for reading and interpreting, which will help them understand contemporary photography and develop their own ideas and skills in terms of design and storytelling.
To deepen their theoretical knowledge and develop practical skills, students will be asked to complete simple photography exercises and present them in class. Analyzing the students’ work will provide a valuable opportunity to encourage verbal communication through presenting, commenting on, and discussing their projects.
As a final project, students are required to present a single photographic image, developed around a theme that will be assigned during the course.
