Transparencies - Glass
Luiss Guido Carli is hosting a contemporary art duo show by Anna Di Prospero and Alexandra Mureșan:
Transparencies, four forms of the invisible - Glass
May 13 – June 30, 2015
Opening on Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at 7:00 PM – Aula 200 Chiesa, Viale Romania 32.
On Wednesday, May 13, the Luiss Guido Carli University’s Viale Romania campus will host the opening of the exhibition Vetro, the second installment in the series Trasparenze, quattro forme dell'invisibile, sponsored by Attività Culturali Luiss.
The exhibition, curated by the members of the Anonima Curatori group, will feature two young artists: Alexandra Mureșan and Anna Di Prospero, who share a common focus on glass as the material for their artistic explorations.
This exhibition represents an interesting evolution by contrast in the discourse on transparency compared to the previous one, Aria: the imperceptibility, perfect permeability, and substantial intangibility of the ether collide with the plasticity, impenetrability, and solidity of glass.
Two distinct and seemingly opposing expressions of the same Aristotelian category.
The artists
Alexandra Mureșan
Alexandra Mureșan, a young Romanian artist from IAGA International Art Gallery Angels, studied philosophy before specializing and earning a doctorate in Glass at the University of Art and Design in Cluj-Napoca. By sculpting this noble material, Muresan creates genuine invisible cities akin to those envisioned by Calvin—subtle yet exaggerated metaphors for the nuances of the human soul. The fragile ramparts she erects are the transparent guardians of her memory, glassy sand castles that mark the path of time's pilgrims.
Anna Di Prospero
For Anna Di Prospero, photography is a means of self-examination rather than documenting a specific moment. Her photographs speak to everyone, beginning with an exploration of the territory the artist knows best: her body and her experiences. The Self-portrait with my Family series portrays the delicate alchemy of family relationships, but it does so through glass that reveals its presence with subtle reflections—an ephemeral, transparent barrier that seems to protect its intimacy, much like a soap bubble would around a diorama.
Di Prospero’s photographs and Mure? an’s sculptures will alternate until June 30 in the left aisle of the evocative Aula Chiesa on Viale Romania. This all-female exhibition marks the first time a foreign artist is featured in the Trasparenze series, thanks to the extraordinary collaboration of curator Ilaria Bignotti and IAGA International Art Gallery Angels.
