Transparencies - Water
LUISS Guido Carli is hosting a contemporary art duo show by Sabina Dragomir and Gianluca Panareo:
Transparencies, four forms of the invisible - Water
September 29 – October 31, 2015
Opening on Tuesday, September 29, 2015, at 7:30 PM – Aula 200 Chiesa, Viale Romania 32.
On Tuesday, September 29, the LUISS Guido Carli University in Rome will host the opening of the exhibition “Acqua” at its Viale Romania campus. This is the third installment in the series “Trasparenze, quattro forme dell'invisibile,” sponsored by LUISS Cultural Activities.
The exhibition, curated by the members of the Anonima Curatori group, will feature two young artists under 35: Sabina Dragomir and Gianluca Panareo.
After exploring the malleable transparencies of glass, the series returns to a natural, ancient, and essential element. Water is the very foundation of life, necessary but not sufficient for the emergence of any living being. Astronomers seek it as a kind of modern philosopher's stone, capable of transforming a cold rock at the edge of the cosmos into a plausible incubator for new civilizations.
The artists
Sabina Dragomir
In her paintings,
Sabina Dragomir depicts human figures fully immersed in water, a gesture that evokes complex scenarios. These paintings hover between the depiction of rebirth and drowning, between the warmth of the amniotic fluid's embrace and the cold constriction of a raging river. Bodies cleansed and purified by water, and at the same time, souls isolated from the outside world, finally free to express themselves without the interplay of sensations. Sabina Dragomir lives and works in Cluj-Napoca and is represented by the IAGA Gallery.
Gianluca Panareo
Water takes on a completely different role in Gianluca Panareo’s work; here, the artist doesn’t just depict it, but uses it as a true actor in a theatrical piece. The transparent compound becomes the protagonist of a repeated, constant, and unchanging drama: the physical impossibility of surpassing a limit. The water crashes stubbornly against a physical barrier, unable to overcome it, but not discouraged from trying.
The students in the LUISS contemporary art curation workshop are therefore putting together a highly complex exhibition. Once again, they alternate installation pieces with large-format paintings, continuing their curatorial exploration of transparency by engaging with one of the most complex and evocative elements in art history.
Open to the public from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM on the following days:
- October 4, 11, 17–18, and 25
Reservations only, to be made Monday through Friday at the following: 06/85225655 - attivitaculturali@luiss.it.
