New EACEA Funding for Luiss
The European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) is funding the establishment of the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence (JMCE) at Luiss, known as the EU Inclusive Open Strategic Autonomy Centre (EU-IOSAC). The EU-IOSAC is a hub for cutting-edge research, the development of innovative teaching methods, and policy analysis to manage the political trade-off the EU currently faces.
The initiative is part of the European Union’s strategy to maintain and enhance its trade competitiveness in a rapidly changing global environment, while ensuring results that encompass both European and Mediterranean trade. In this context, Italy plays an important role due to its geographical location and political tradition.
In particular, the EU-IOSAC can play a strategic role in the European context:
- To serve as the central hub for transnational connections with academic institutions in Central and Mediterranean European countries;
- To gather top-tier expertise in shaping inclusive EU trade and industrial policies;
- To make this expertise multidisciplinary and Europe-focused;
- To ensure public visibility of the results achieved for relevant stakeholders and civil society.
EU-IOSAC will pursue these objectives under the scientific direction of Professor Valentina Meliciani, a full professor of Applied Economics at DIM. This will be done through strategic and synergistic activities carried out in collaboration with the academic community, as well as political and civil society stakeholders, in line with the stated aims of the Jean Monnet call.
