The PhD in Economics at Luiss Guido Carli is a four-year program that provides advanced training in all major areas of economics. The program is fully funded and guarantees all students a scholarship for four years. It is a full-time program, and classes are taught in English.

Our program is designed to equip students with the ability to understand and solve a wide range of economic problems, and to provide training in cutting-edge analytical, empirical, and quantitative techniques. Students gain the skills needed to pursue both academic and professional careers at universities, international research institutes, government agencies, central banks, consulting firms, and financial institutions.

In the first and second years, students take advanced thematic courses covering quantitative methods (mathematics and statistics), computer programming, and all major areas of economics: applied microeconomics, macroeconomics, econometrics, and finance. The third and fourth years are dedicated to writing the doctoral dissertation. Reading groups, workshops, and seminars are also part of the educational activities.
