Research at Luiss

Research at Luiss

We foster a dynamic, interdisciplinary, and international research ecosystem focused on scientific quality, social impact, and dialogue with institutions, businesses, and the academic community.

At Luiss, we conduct research across the university’s core disciplines—from economics and law to management, sociology, history, and political science—contributing to the generation of knowledge and the discussion of strategic issues for societal progress.

Through the Research and Third Mission Office, we support faculty and researchers in applying for international grants and managing funded research projects. We also promote scientific activities aimed at strengthening knowledge transfer, collaboration with industry and institutions, and the dissemination of research results, with the goal of increasing their social, economic, and cultural impact.

Research as a driver of progress

Innovation, sustainability, and networking drive the way we conduct research at Luiss: a journey that combines knowledge, responsibility, and vision to contribute to societal transformation.

Types of Research at Luiss

Research at Luiss is structured around three main areas: competitive research, applied research, and frontier research. These dimensions encourage participation in projects of national and international significance, foster collaboration with institutions and businesses, and support the advancement of knowledge within the Departments.

With an interdisciplinary, impact-oriented approach, Luiss strengthens its scientific output and contributes to the development of strategies, analyses, and perspectives that benefit societal progress.

We promote and make Luiss research accessible by leveraging Open Science, Engaged Research initiatives, and science communication activities like the University Newsbook. We disseminate research results and promote their use by the academic community, institutions, businesses, and civil society, thereby strengthening the University’s contribution to public debate and the production of shared knowledge.

The University promotes research quality by monitoring and evaluating its scientific impact within the academic landscape.

These processes promote transparency and support the continuous improvement of scientific output, helping to strengthen the university's position.
