International exchanges and Erasmus for Luiss students
Luiss offers its students numerous opportunities to study abroad. It encourages credit mobility primarily through the EU's Erasmus+ program, as well as through bilateral agreements with universities outside Europe. These programs allow Luiss students to spend a semester at a Partner University, with full academic recognition of the coursework completed abroad.
Luiss has received the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education 2021–2027, which allows it to participate in the Erasmus+ program. The Luiss Erasmus Policy Statement and the ECHE Charter Luiss University 2021–2027 (and the Italian version) are also in place.
The university has been a participant in the Erasmus program since its inception in 1987.
Thanks to the program, over four million students have had the opportunity to engage with different educational traditions and cultural contexts, experiencing the allure of discovering “the other.”
Over the years, it has built a dense and high-quality network of connections and agreements with universities across Europe and beyond, spanning the globe.
Student mobility agreements are based on the principle of reciprocity and allow students from both institutions to study for a period without paying any university fees to the partner institution. However, the student covers travel, room, and board expenses.
Students can take part in international exchange programs by applying through the international exchange call for applications. The call for applications is published annually in December. Students are selected based on their academic merit and language proficiency.
Students also have the opportunity to study abroad for short programs during the summer.
Attend a summer school abroad and have it recognized as an elective course. Study in another country, enjoy an international experience, and have an elective course recognized.

To calculate the score for selection in this call for applications for international exchange programs with European (Erasmus+) and non-European countries, all credits valid for the degree that are earned and recorded in the student’s academic record by the end of the winter exam session are considered. This includes any credits earned for internships, languages, seminars, soft skills, summer schools, and courses taken in advance, among others. Credits from any elective courses are not considered.
Credits earned through internships are not counted among the credits obtained or those to be obtained. A value is assigned, calculated as one-eighth (1/8) of the total weight of credits earned through internships, and added directly to the weighted average.
